Tammy’s message read “Come down to the lobby now pls, it’s time to go”. I laughed at the “pls” part then read Harry’s.
“I know you’re busy this morning but me and the boys are flying in tonight, let’s hang out?”
I met Harry at a festival we played at. He told me he was a huge fan and we’ve been best friends ever since. This band and those Five Seconds of Summer kids are touring together and they’re doing a gig here tomorrow night.
I don’t know those “5SOS” guys, but I’m not a fan of their music.
I quickly replied yes to Harry and slowly made my way down to the lobby. When I got off the elevator the first person I saw was Kandice. She was wearing this god awful lime green dress. It went down to her mid-thigh and she had black tights under it and black boots, with a black leather jacket on top.
I wanted the jacket.
Next to her was Roxanne in red loose pants and a white turtle neck. Her oxfords were suede and a dark blue-ish color, and her hair was up in a high bun. Hazel was talking to Tammy, probably complaining about her outfit. She was in a purple jumpsuit thing with a neon yellow jacket over it and white pumps.
“Just because I’m black doesn’t mean I like purple or yellow!” she loudly said. I walked closer and I heard Tammy say “This was an executive decision, not mine, next time you guys can dress yourselves, I promise.”
Before I had time to greet everyone Tammy was already rushing us out of the door. There was maybe twelve fans outside, keep in mind it was 5am, and we didn’t have time to even say hi to them. Once in the van I finally got to say hi.
Kandice was really happy about her outfit, while Roxy was still sulking. We all thought we were just going to be speaking into microphones during commercial breaks but Tammy said we were also doing a video interview for their Youtube channel.
It was a surprisingly short ride to the radio station. When we pulled in a mob of fans bombarded the van, quickly getting pushed away by security. The main thing I loved about our fanbase was it wasn’t made up of teenage girls; we had fans of every age and gender. I saw maybe eight 40 year old men in the crowd. Everyone loves a good girl punk band.
The interview begins:
“How’s the tour been girls” Kelly, the morning DJ asked us.
“Well this is definitely our favorite so far, because the dates are spread out a bit so we can spend a few days in each town instead of running around” Kandice said.
“Yeah, I especially like this one because we aren’t the opening act” Hazel added.
“Oh yeah, you guys opened for FIDLAR last year! Do you guys miss them?” Kelly asked.
“Of course we do! We’re huge fans of them and they were so nice to us” I said.
“I like your outfits today guys, I almost didn’t recognize you” Kelly said, changing the subject.
“We didn’t choose them” Roxy said.
“Yeah, we were told to be on our best behavior today” I laughed as I pulled at my ridiculously white sweater.
“Well I like the look, maybe you guys should consider wearing stuff like that more often” Kelly laughed.
“I really like this dress” Kandice said as me, Hazel, and Roxy pretended to gag.
Kelly continued to ask us the usual type of questions: Are we single, are we thinking of any collaborations, favorite songs right now, then she told us there was a surprise waiting for us in the adjoining room.
We all figured it was a gift basket or something. We got up and the cameras and Kelly followed. I had the honor of opening the door… I was surprised, to say the least, at what I saw.
