Olivia opened her eyes to see Dokai sitting in front of her.
"Dokai you're alive" she said "far from it my friend look around you" Dokai said, so Olivia did. She realized they were in just white space there was nothing else around them.
"Where are we?" Olivia asked. Dokai replied "Just a subspace, we used to use it all the time before things changed."
"oh... I... Still have no memories of any of that..." Olivia said frowning
"I know. My time with you was cut very short. Had I had more time you would be back to your old self again." Dokai said.
"but when you wake up we can fix that" Olivia said and Dokai sighed.
"Olivia.... I Won't be waking up this time." Olivia with a look of confusion "What do you mean the others will save you."
"No Moira is slowing that down as much as she can. She has a right to I wasn't what you would call normal when I last saw her. I was so.... High on power blood lust and just the battlefield it's self. Part of it was very unpleasant. However there isn't time to go over that. You and I used to be best friends. To the point we decided to do a neural link. Years would be triggered back for you. Basically we planned for this day to come. The day you would wipe your memories." Dokai said.
" Wait so you knew... Even before Akande went to find you... "Olivia said putting it together.
" I was actually on my way back when I ran into him. With you it is always different.... Guess I just wanted you to know who killed me." Dokai said.
" because you thought it would be Moira or Gabe." Olivia said and Dokai smiled and shook her head.
"No. I knew it was going to be one of them. You don't remember but I have the ability to follow a time line to a certain point. Anything that had me coming back here only ever ends one way. I die." Dokai said and Olivia's eyes went wide as she shook her head.
" No... Then why did you come back?! " Olivia yelled and Dokai smiled and looked down.
" to help you. You would of struggled for years getting back what you lost if I didn't come back. Also there is a rather beautiful young lady waiting for you." Dokai said with a smile.
" but I don't want you to die for it... This isn't a price I want to pay we can work on getting them back use time or something there has to be a way that doesn't involve me losing my best friend again!" Olivia said and all Dokai could do was smile. Pieces were coming back to Olivia which was good.
"It's to late for that... I came back for you like I said i would. Even if there was a way at this point the damage done to my body is to bad. If I waited the long game it would of hurt longer and just made the progress of getting your memories back slower. It's funny in a way.... If Moira just wouldn't of touched me we would of been ok, I couldn't let you die. It's like you said you're still my best friend. Plus let's be serious you have so many people waiting for you. You are loved by so many Olivia, you're not alone anymore."
" But you have me, you've always had me. Even after the drunken nights when we pranked called Moira. When we drew raised eyebrows ok Akande when he was sleeping. Then when Gabe was singing hit me baby one more time while drunk. Or... Or when we went to the ballet to watch Amelia preform.... Or... When you gave me the courage to finally message Hana. "Olivia went on and Dokai smiled more it was working. Just like she knew it would.
" You will always have our memories together Olivia. Always, I'll make sure of it. " Dokai said as she fell to her knees. Olivia ran forward towards her unsure if she could touch her here. She wanted to do something anything. She knew her best friend was dying and all she could do was watch.
" Please stop. I don't want to lose you over this. Please Dokai." Olivia had tears streaming down her face. Here was the one person who knew everything about her, who knew things she didn't remember. Who cares about her so much that she would give up her life just for Olivia to be happy. But this wasnt making her happy.
"I wont stop till you remember her. I need you to remember how you felt. How happy you were. Remember Olivia." Dokai said as her head nodded. She swayed and Olivia threw caution to the wind and caught Dokai before she hit the ground completely. She cradled Dokai in her arms with tears in her eyes.
" Please stop. I dont know who you want me to remember... please Dokai please.
Is it Moira? Amélie?" Olivia was panicking she wanted her best friend to stop but she didn't know who she needed to remember her feelings for.
"Please please just stop" Olivia was now begging as Dokai put her hand to Olivia's face. There were black lines going up her arm. Olivia was shaking her head from the fear of not knowing how far it was through Dokai's body. Which now seemed so fragile something Dokai never was.
"Did I know?" Olivia asked crying. "know what?" Dokai asked back while closing her eyes. "Did I know us meeting again would get you killed?" Olivia asked.
"It wasn't us meeting again" she answered "You didn't answer me."Dokai sighed
" no you didn't know. If I told you, you would of done everything to stop me. Actually you would of never even done the link. " Dokai said. Olivia shook her head as tears fell. As Olivia looked at Dokai to see the black lines now showing on Dokai's neck. Then a flood of memories came all at once
"Hana.... It's Hana.... "Olivia said and she looked at Dokai who had a small smile on her face.
" There you are... Finally back and... You remember everything" Dokai said and Olivia could tell Dokai didn't have much energy left.
"I didn't mean for this to happen. If I knew I... I never would've ...." Olivia said.
Dokai interrupted "Don't worry... I'm at peace now. No one ever believes how much pain you feel here."
"I know what you mean..." Olivia said still crying. "go get your girl" Dokai said with one last smile taking her last gentle breath. Olivia closed Dokai's eyes and kissed her forehead.
"I'll never forget you. No more dumping my memories, no more hiding." with that said Olivia all of a sudden felt tired and fell into darkness.
