Shadows cast on bodies unknown,
Eerie and long from the moon's pale glow. Each shining star in a sea of light,
Casts away fears that come with the night.Thoughts racing by, faster than lightning,
Unable to sleep, the night becomes frightening. But lying awake beneath the sky,
I cannot keep from wondering why.Is it because I cannot see what is hiding,
Deep in the shadows, patiently biding
Its time?Is it because of the cars flashing by?
Light from the window, through my eyelids it pries.Or is it because, with the absence of light,
Everything horrible hits me at night?Thoughts that hurt, thoughts that pierce,
Thoughts that bring me to silent tears. Each night when I lie down in bed,
A million thoughts fill my head.Is it because I cannot see what is hiding,
Deep in the shadows, patiently biding
Its time?Is it because of the cars flashing by?
Light from the window, through my eyelids it pries.Or is it because, with the absence of light,
Everything horrible hits me at night?
