Gay Best Friend

Every girl, for some reason, wants to have a GBF(gay best friend). Gabby always tells me that there are people who would want to kidnap me so I can become their gay best friend. While I don't believe someone would go to that extent, it makes me wonder why the term gay best friend is even a thing. Why can't I be the Queen Bee, or the Queer Bee? Those kinda sound dumb, but basically I think the term shouldn't exist. Unfortunately, that's what everyone thinks of me as. Just like Caspian Rose, who talked to me for the sole reason that I'm Gabby's gay best friend. Hopefully one day I can be more than just the best friend, and become the main character, Queer Bee.

"Mason, is that you? Are you alive? What happened over there?" Emily hammers me with questions as soon as I get back from talking to Caspian Rose.

"Yes I'm alive, and a lot happened over there," I admit, as Emily and I proceed to walk into our first period history class.

"Spill! You know I hate to be left waiting!" She sips her iced coffee and gives me a 'you better talk now' look.

"Well it's a long story, but basically Caspian Rose asked for my help!" I smile, feeling a bit proud of myself if I don't say.

"No way! I thought he was going to beat you up because you're always looking at him!" Emily boldly states, and I give her a very offended look. "Yeah I noticed, and I know you aren't spying on Noah for Gabby."

"I might not be." I mutter with rosy cheeks. "But I am not always looking at him!" I defend myself, but I have a feeling I'm not going to win this battle.

"Well I always see you looking at him in the halls, in English class, in math class, study hall, in lunch, and of course in the locker room." Emily states with a cocky, and sly smirk.

"The locker room? You're not even in my locker room, how would you know?" I question, feeling my face heating up more. My cheeks feel like lava at this point.

"Trust me Mason, I know you're staring at him there. I mean I can't blame you, I would do the same thing if I had the privilege to be in that locker room. I'm a little jealous of you!" Emily says with her eyes looking up, like she's dreaming she could be in the locker room too.

"Maybe I'll take you in there one day," I chuckle, while Emily gives me the stink eye.

"I don't need to stare, people should stare at me. I mean I am the best looking girl in this school if you don't count Gabby! Plus I'm smarter, and a whole lot nicer than her! I don't understand why most of the guys flock to her. I have such a long list of achievements, I'm so amazing!" Emily goes on a rant about how spectacular she is, but saying no one notices because everyone's looking at Gabby. I would say this is true, but Emily has guys coming her way every so often, just not as much as Gabby. Unlike Gabby, Emily usually tries dating them, but it never works out in the end.

"You certainly are a star." I praise her and she smiles because she already knows. "I guess Gabby has this attitude that guys seem to like more." I mention, and Emily starts to visibly think.

"So guys like dramatic, demanding and dumb over kindness, intelligence and independence." Emily mutters, and I feel I should mention that Gabby isn't dumb, she just talks about things she's ignorant about so she appears that way. Although if I said that, Emily would find a way to make it about her. While Gabby is full of herself, Emily is in love with herself and lets everyone know, which may be a reason for the lack of people that flock to her.

"Well let's be honest, we're all a bit dramatic." I try to lighten the mood a little.

"I suppose so." Emily doesn't sound very satisfied with my response, but what does she expect me to do? Shit talk my best friend? Well, she probably does. "You still haven't told me what Caspian said to you!" Emily slams her hand on the table desk in the middle of history, causing everyone, even the teacher, to look over at us.
