This is what I imagine Jeremy Wohl will look like.It was quite a starry night. The lampposts were eerily burning and throwing weird reflections. One could almost see the shadow of the flames licking and dancing across the street where two teenagers walked. They were talking in hushed urgent whispers sounding like an argument.
"You know what? You should tell me what mom, Dad and you have been hiding from me. Or I'll simply decipher that you're just gloating over your seniority" said Evelyn. "Oh yeah? You think so? I think you're too young to handle all this information" Jeremy replied. "C'mon brother! I'm nearly sixteen already and you're just an year older than I am. So, do not try the age trick on me. Also, what is this weird Yoga mom and dad are doing all the time?" Snapped Evelyn. "I'll tell you all that you need to know sweetie. Now isn't just the perfect time." Jeremy said in a cool, soothing voice that set Evelyn wondering. Had those blue eyes of his always been so captivating and intelligent? Since when did Mom and Dad trust him more than they trusted her?
" You should just know that it is a precious little thing." He said interrupting her reverie of thoughts. He continued, " You have this watch since you were an year old. It indeed is very important for you. Any information more than this might lead to your trespassing in unwelcome territories."
It was true. Evelyn had had this watch since she was a baby. It was an elegant 1800's watch with a silver dial, contrasting Jeremy's brand new flashy G-shock. Jeremy had been repeatedly shoving his wrist in people's faces since the time he had acquired the watch. She strongly suspected that it was a trick to flaunt his new watch.
She had been constantly reminded of her watch's significance several times, each pushing her down the edge. Since she'd turned 14, on the 21st of September, weird things like her wrists started burning and there were new scars had started happening which spiked her curiosity made it unbearable. But the determination of the rest of her family to hide the significance of her watch frustrated her to no ends.
"Think we should head home?" asked Evelyn.
"Sure. Those Mom & Dad of ours must be waiting for the yogurts." he said wriggling the plastic bag in his hand.
Evelyn wondered whether they'd still be meditating when they got back home.
As Evelyn lay in her bed at night scattering her golden tresses across the pillow, the same as her Mom's, she thought of her family; her mom so similar to her yet so different. The same blonde hair, curvature of forehead, high cheekbones and piercing blue eyes which had gone to Jeremy instead of her. She had hazel eyes similar to her Dad's; a tall, broad-shouldered man with a lively light dancing in his eyes. Jeremy had inherited his dark hair from Dad but possessed a completely original soldier like build. These thoughts convinced her to give it a rest and assume the normalcy of her life. Except the fact that the time reflector on her wrist had a tiny heartbeat of its own.
"Evelyn! Coming to school today?!" blasted Zara, her best friend since primary school, on the phone early in the morning. Evelyn flinched at the high voltage energy. She rolled over and asked, "Ugh what is it today?" in a sleepy voice.
"Sleepyhead, today my Mum AKA our dear Mythology And Fictional Sciences teacher is going to teach us about the spirit dimension 'The Beyond'! You have to come today and that's because you got no option. Haha." said Zara.
"Jeez you're so annoying!" retorted Evelyn.
Zara with her Mom in the school was the ultimate source of all kinds of gossips of Knight High School. Any news couldn't escape her scrutinising ears. She was always full of information about who was going out with whom, who had been famously dumped etc. The most recent one being the rumour about the fling between the Trig sir and Calculus ma'am. Evelyn listened to all of Zara's anecdotes uncriticisingly. Zara was always there to listen to her banters. An enemy of hers would have to face Zara first before getting to Evelyn, which was quite hard without getting punched In the face.
"Going now, will see you in the class. Got to go, bye!" said Zara.
"Yeah will be there soon." Replied Evelyn and slept again.
"Aw crap!" Evelyn said out loud as she saw the alarm clock flashing 8:30am. She was plenty late. She looked out of her window and after acknowledging the beautiful New York City morning, she hurriedly started to get dressed for school.
"Eve, Gods we're already late. Mum! I ain't waiting for her yet again. Everyday the bus driver shoots me dirty looks for being late." Came Jeremy's voice from the foyer.
"Blehblahblehblah" Evelyn imitated a poor impression of Jeremy's voice.
"I heard that!" shouted Jeremy.
"Well that's because I said it out loud" Snapped Evelyn.
She congratulated herself on her sass for a moment, then realising how late she was, she rushed to the washroom for freshening up. She came out and quickly put on an unmatched outfit. She grabbed a pastrami sandwich from the table and ran to catch up with Jeremy.
"Bye darling! Have a great day!" said her mom from behind.
"Will sure do Mum!" replied Evelyn as she skidded out of the house.
