"How did you lose your voice?"

Jaehyun's question made Jaemin flinch in fear, his tail blending in with the clear crystal waters of the ocean as he leaned against the rock where the older is sitting on top of.

"I was the runt in the family, obviously. I'm like that Jeno person you're talking about — I also lost my species' key feature." He signed. The younger was thankful he learned Sign language before he was literally kicked out and Jaehyun understands what he's saying.

"When does this occur? I mean— losing the key feature curse. I tried asking this to Jeno and he never answered, might as well question you." Jaehyun shrugged, looking down at the siren.

"It happens around... twice every generation. It has a story behind the curse, actually. Every single mythical creature is like that." The other explained, letting out a silent sigh.

"But the cursed children were given a blessing no other same-specie ever had. Like a dragon that cries gems, a unicorn that grew wings, a siren that can make a puddle of water crystal clear."

"I don't understand... Why do you guys have to be chunked out of the family?" He raised an eyebrow at Jaemin, whose eyes went glassy.

"If we were kept into the family, then..." The younger stopped, thinking of an alternative word to use. "We will carry out the curse for eternity."
