and ik, lousy excuses, but please bear with this chapter as I wrote it every morning at like 1:00 over the span of 3 weeks so I'm not quite sure what's going on, it's kinda a rollercoaster, but hey, at least it's an update.
okay but now let's get into it

"Are you sure we're allowed to be here?" (Y/N) questioned.
"We're not,"
Bill brought her behind the castle, through a patch of prickly bushes and twigs, until finally they made it to the reddened waters edge. Jagged shells stuck out of the ground, putting anyone who might be barefoot at risk and (Y/N) was quick to take notice of a gate just below the surface, keeping any sea creature far away from the edge.
"But it doesn't matter!" Bill continued. "You're in charge, so we can't get in trouble."
(Y/N) nearly pointed out that was an abuse of power, but they were only on a beach. Nothing too terrible could really come out of it.
"How do you even know about this place?" She asked.
It was secluded from all around. Even the people who lived below the surface were a good few meters from their hideaway. It was just behind a wall of the castle that separated them from passerby's.
"When you live somewhere for an eternity, you pick up on things." He said, taking a seat.
(Y/N) moved a few shells before she sat down beside him. The water came close, but didn't dare to touch them. Just behind them was a castle wall. If the area were just a little smaller, there wouldn't be enough room.
"So, I got to thinkin',"
"That's almost unheard of for you." (Y/N) teased.
"Hey! I'm helping you!"
(Y/N) couldn't deny she was still amused by his childlike behavior, but she gave him her attention. "Fine," She smiled. "What'd you come up with?"
"I have a whole plan to find your killer! One where we come out on top!" He snapped his fingers and a pen and notepad appeared in his hands. "We make a list of suspects and then interrogate. Just like in your tv shows, remember?" He passed the items over to her. "And then when we find out who it is, I'll handle the rest."
"What good will interrogating do? No one will admit to it." Bill opened his mouth to speak, and (Y/N) could tell by his expression what his solution was. "We can't torture every person you come across."
"Then we'll never get to the bottom of this!"
"Whoever tried to poison me also had the time to mess with everyone else's food, too. So, I don't think your friends had anything to do with it."
"Well, I coulda told you that!" Bill leaned back on the castle wall. Looking pleased that she came around. "They weren't even here long enough to try anything."
(Y/N) moved beside him, resting her notepad on her knees so Bill could see what she was writing. "So, It has to be someone in the castle. We know it isn't Xoggin," She scribbled down his name.
"Put mine, too. It wasn't me."
(Y/N) wrote Bill's name underneath. Then, she wrote her mother's name. Both of them were quiet for a moment, trying to think of others who were in the clear. The silence only reminded (Y/N) of how any of the hundreds of servants, chefs, or maids could have wanted her dead. If she had eaten her meal, she was positive she would have died. She may have been half demon, but she was sure her human side would not have reacted to the poison nearly as well as Bill had. Who ever was after her knew she was weak, and still came at her with so much force, it was almost enough to kill a full demon.
