Tom and I head out and walk a couple of blocks to where Shawn said his driver's car would be and go into the car. The drive takes no longer than 15 minutes and we arrive at this huge stadium and get escorted out of the car and to the left stage corridor. Shawn is in the middle of performing the song Particular Taste as Tom and I find a spot on the stage to stand and watch from.
"Damn there's a lot of people at this thing, Tom." I whisper to Tom and he nods.
"Sure is, I don't think that many fans go to the comic con or brother trust events combined." Tom whispers back an dI gulp imagining that one day I would have to perform in front of this many people. Sure dancing in front of max 300 people is not any issue but actually singing in from of over 3000 people is a different story. Shawn wraps up the song and spot me in the corner of the stage and jogs over.
"How are you? You made it." Shawn says with a huge smile motioning for me to join him on center stage. I guess my anxiety gets to me because I shake my head no because the amount of people there is, is absolutely insane.
"I'm good. Hi!" I say replying to Shawn he and Tom do this weird bro nod and I just shrug it off. Guys am I right.
"It's good to see you again." Shawn says taking my hands into his.
"How are you? That was absolutely amazing." I say referring to the stellar performance Shawn gave a few moments ago.
"So listen we are going to sing that song. Alright? I made an arrangement and thought it be nice to introduce you to the fans this way." Shawn says motioning for me to come join him in the spotlight.
"N-no I can't do that. I'm sorry." I stammer.
"Here we go" Shawn says attempting to drag me on stage with him but I repeatedly shake my head no because I don't want to embarrass myself in front of this many people.
"Shawn, please. I can't do it right now. It's not funny Shawn, don't fuck around" I tell Shawn. I hear Tom mumble 'oh my god' and motions for me to join Shawn as he backs away slightly to allow me to move further onto the stage. Shawn then comes closer to me and says.
"All you gotta do is trust me." He says motioning to mic in front of the stage. I manage to free my hand and walk a little back to hide in the shadows hoping I wouldn't be seen by the roaring 3000 or more fans of that stadium. Shawn then goes back onto the stage and says into the mic.
"That's all you gotta do. I'm going to sing it either way so...." Shawn says turning back to the crowd. Tom then whispers to me.
"Y/n/n come on you should go up and sing. I know as your brother I'm obligated to say you sing amazing but you truly do. It's like a gift given from god, so get your talented ass up there and prove to the world that Y/N is the next big thing or you can remain here in the shadows and not know if this could be your chance at greatness. You will do amazing I believe in you." Tom says giving me a quick hug. Even though I might act like I hate him his opinion means the world to me and that was amazing advice, so I'm going to put my fate into Tom for once and trust what he says.
"Tommy I don't know. I'm not going out there." I say because I remember the crowd of people and start to internally freak out once again. Suddenly I hear Shawn playing a similar tune to the melody that we came up with in the car the other night. He starts to sing the first verse.
"'Tell me somethin', girl, Are you happy in this modern world?, Or do you need more, Is there somethin' else you're searchin' for?" That is in fact the song we came up with. As Shawn sang the last line he looks back at me and continues singing into the mic.
"I'm fallin', In all the good times, I find myself longin' for change, And in the bad times I fear myself..." Shawn sings and looks back at me imploring that my verse is indeed next. I look back at him. Shawn just stands there in silence as the music continues to strum the melody of this song. I finally after a moment that seemed like forever decide to break through my anxiety and join him on stage. Thank goodness you can't see the people looking at you because the light are blinding. I begin to sing my verse into the mic.
"Tell me something, boy, Aren't you tired, tryin' to fill that void?, Or do you need more, Ain't it hard keepin' it so hardcore?, I'm falling, In all the good times, I find myself longing for change, And in the bad times, I fear myself, (chorus) I'm off the deep end, Watch as I dive in, I'll never meet the ground, Crash through the surface, Where they can't hurt us, We're far from the shallow now..." As I wrap up the chorus Shawn and his band join in and add to the melody. Shawn then joins me on the mic and together we sing.
"'In the sha-ha-sha-ha-low, In the sha-ha-sha-la-la-la-low, In the sha-ha-sha-ha-ha-low, We're far from the shallow now..." Shawn then gets another mic stand and moves over to it strumming his guitar as I remain center stage at the mic we were sharing. I then begin to sing.
"'I'm off the deep end, Watch as I dive in, I never meet the ground, Crash through the surface, Where they can't hurt us, We're far from the shallow now..." The crowd goes wild for some reason as I sing and I look back at Tom and see him smiling. Just knowing I made my brother proud it gave me a piece of happiness and confidence I needed to finish off the song. Shawn then once again joins me in for the last verse of the song.
"'In the sha-ha-sha-ha-low In the sha-ha-sha-la-la-la-low In the sha-ha-sha-ha-ha-low We're far from the shallow now..." As we finsih the song we can see the lights from the many iphones recording the performance that night. Shawn must have sensed my shock because he rabs my hand and leads me next to him.
"Let's give it up for my new opening act. Y/N!" Shawn says as he lifts my arm into the air with his and the crowd goes into a loud applause and cheer. From the corner of my eye I can see Tom clapping his hands and cheering. I then turn to Shawn and whisper.
"Oh my god. That's so many people." I say hiding my face in Shawn's shirt.
"And you know what you did so fucking amazing." Shawn says. He gives me a quick hug and I run back and stand next to Tom once again.
"Y/n/n see what did I tell you. You absolutely crushed it girl." Tom says pulling me into a hug.
"Thank you, Tom it means alot coming from you." I say into the hug.
"Of course darling. It was amazing, and see the people adored you, but remember if anyone tries anything I can still beat them up." Tom says and I chuckle. We remain there for the rest of the show and after the show we talk to Shawn and head home with Tom. Apparently Shawn posted a picture from the concert so I decide to check it out before letting sleep take over me.
