Why? (Shawn Mendes and Hayes Grier fanfic)

Chapter 5

Mack's POV

"Mack! Are you ready?" My mom yelled from downstairs, oh shit, it's 6:45 "Yeah, yeah, wait" I yelled back looking for something to wear, luckily I took a shower yesterday so I didn't have to worry for my hair. I took random clothes and went to the bathroom, brushed my teeth, combed my hair and did my normal makeup. I ran downstairs, "Aren't you..." My mom said but by that time I was already out of the house, I was running and I felt someone grabbing my arm, I stopped and looked, it was Hayes. I was shocked, he was smiling, my cuts still hurt, so I immediately pulled my hand. "What's wrong" he asked me, "No-nothing" I said pulling down the sleeves of my shirt, "Hayes, about today, I can't go, I'm sorry, I..." He cut me off saying, "No it's okay, see you at school", he left running.

I kept walking and Shawn came behind me, "Mack! How...", he said, "Hayes told me to meet him at Starbucks but I said no, and I don't know what he's going to do to me now" I said almost crying, "Hey don't cry, don't cry it's okay, I'm here" he said while grabbing my arm and turning me to be able for me to see him, "You're going to talk to him when you are ready" he said to me, "But, what if I'm never ready", I said looking in his eyes, his beautiful brown eyes, "You will, one day, I know it, because you are strong", I didn't say anything I just hugged him.

Shawn's POV

"But, what if I'm never ready" she said, "You will, one day, I know it, because you are strong", she's strong I know it, she'll get through this, after she just hugged me, I really like her, but I think it's not time to tell her how I feel, she has a lot going on, it'll probably make it worse.

I held her hand and we walked to school together, our date is tomorrow and I'm really exited. I want to make her feel wanted, like she has someone to trust in, and that's me.

Hayes, well Hayes is probably wanting her to forgive him, but what he did was awful, when he ditched her with no reason, since then her life has been miserable. I've know Hayes since he was a little kid, probably his girlfriend dragged him to do this, but I don't know, I think it's better if we keep distance for a while.

When we came the school, he was with his friends, he was not with the slutty slut *cough cough* Megan, I hate her, ugh.

"Shawn, can I tell you something?" She asked, "Yeah sure", I replied, she looked down and started talking, "My mom is leaving for a business trip for a long time, a friend is coming over but I-I have to stay at the Griers, what do I do?", she was staying at the Griers, oh shit, but Nash is there so he watch out for her, "Everything's going to be fine, Nash is there right?", I asked, "Yes, but it's been long time since I don't see him, he probably thinks of me as a different person, he was like a brother to me, but I don't know of he likes me now," she said, "He is still a brother to you, he will take care of you no matter what, he is a good boy", I said as I hugged her, "When is you mom leaving?" I asked, "In one week", she replied, "Okay now let's go to class, it's getting late", I said, I could feel Hayes's eyes on us all the time, I don't know what's going with him, he first hurts her, then asks her if she can forgive him, it's probably one of his lies to her.

--------Skip to the end of school-------

The dismissal bell rang, I saw Hayes coming towards me, "Hey Shawn", he said, "Hi" I replied, "Do you know were Mack is?" He asked me, why would he want to know where she is, "For what?, so you can yell at her" I said almost screaming, "Dude, calm down" he said to me like if he has never hurt her, "Telling me to calm down, you sent her to the hospital, made her life miserable and you are telling me to calm down!" I said screaming, "Look I'm really sorry, what I did to her was awful but I promise I won't do it again, I'm so sorry", he said to me it looks like he actually meant what he was saying, "Go apologize to her not to me" I said pointing to the nowhere, "Where is she?" He asked once again, "Probably in her locker", with that he walked away.

Mack's POV

I walked out of class and I bumped into Megan, "Oh look who it is, the ugly fat bitch" she said, "What do you want now?" I asked, "Stay away from Hayes, I know he broke up with me so he could go to you, but you are a worthless piece of shit that can die in a hole", those words hit me like a bus, I wanted to cry but I don't need to show her that I'm weak, "He never liked you anyways" I mumbled, "What? What did you say", she asked, "Nothing" that's when I felt my cheek burning, she slapped me, "Stop, what are you doing, get away!" I heard a voice, it was a he but I didn't see his face, until he came closer, "Get away, don't touch her ever again" he said, it was Hayes, the girls walked away laughing, "Are okay? Did they do something else? They..." I cut him off saying, "It's okay, I'm fine I said" walking away, "Mack, wait listen to me please", he said as he grabbed my arm, I turned back so I could face him, "Mack I know what I did was awful and I'm so sorry, I won't do it ever again, please forgive me, can we please go back to what we had, our friendship?" He begged, "Hayes it's not that easy to forgive someone who made your life miserable and probably doesn't mean it" I said, "But I mean it Mack, please" he begged once again, "Hayes it's going to take time, it's not once once again", "I'll wait", he said, "Okay" I replied not wanting to say that last part, after he just hugged me, I didn't hug back because it didn't feel right, it just didn't.
