Chapter 6

Mack's POV

When I hugged Hayes it didn't felt right even though I missed his hugs, after all he has done to me I think he is really sorry. When we were friends I used to like him but confessing him that would've ruined our relationship. I don't know why Hayes thinks I revealed his secret, it was just for us, I never did it, even if it was a situations that my life depended on, he was a great boy, he is I great boy I think, I just need to give him time.

Today is my date with Shawn and Lacey is coming in 30 min, I'll ask her for help to get ready, to be honest I've never been on a real date, by real I mean like a boy who I like, yes, I like Shawn. Once I went to one back in Minnesota, he took me to a carnival, but then I saw him kissing another girl so you can guess what happened next.

----------------30 minutes later------------

"Oh my gosh Mack!!! It's been a long time!!! I've missed you so much!!!" Lacey said, "Lace!! Me too!!! How's everything back there?" I asked, "Boring without you" she replied, "How about you, school? Friends? Boyfriend?" She asked, I blushed just by thinking about Shawn, "About that, I need your help" I said, "Yes of course! With what?" , "I have a date tonight" I said looking at my shoes as if they were the most amazing thing in the world, "OH MY GOOOSHH!!! WHITH WHOOO!!! WHEN? WHERE?" She started throwing questions at me, "With Shawn", "Ohh nice" "It's tonight, I need your help to get ready" "Yes, let's go shopping, she grabbed the keys of the car that she rented and dragged me out of the house" I entered the car and she did too "Soo tell me about this kid Shawn?" She asked, "Well there's a big story behind him, how I met him and how he decided to help me" "Help you?" She asked, there was silence for about one minute, "I was, um I was bullied" I said the last word in a low voice", "Mack, why didn't you tell me, I could've helped you, who are the bitches that did that to you", "Um, a boy and his friends", "Oh Mackenzie, but is everything good now?" She asked, "Yeah, Shawn is the one who helped me get out of it", "Awee, I already like him, just remember him if he hurts you, he is dead" we both laughed and dropped the bullying topic, "Is he good looking?" She asked, "Yeah" I said while blushing, "Do you like him?", "Maybe", "Maybe? No, girl you like that boy" "Yes" I said in between laughs.

----------At the mall---------

"Phew! I'm so tired" Lacey said, "Ugh, me too at least we bought what we needed" I said, "Yeah, now, let's go eat", She said, "Yeah, I'm starving" I said standing up from the bench that we were sitting on, as we were walking, I saw someone I didn't want to see, Hayes, "Um Lacey can we walk the other way, I think I forgot something" I said nervously and already turning back, "Mack, are you okay?" "Yeah um, but..." It was too late, Hayes was already in front of me, "Hey Mack!" He said, "Hi Hayes" Lacey was so confused, "Who is she?" Hayes asked, "A friend" I said faking my smile, "Hi, I'm Lacey" Lace said, "I'm Hayes" he said, "So what are you doing here guys?" Hayes asked, I was going to speak but Lacey interrupted me, "She has a date" Lacey said pointing at me, "Yeah" I lowered my voice, "I could see Hayes's eyes becoming darker, and he was, sad, wait what? Sad, why? Why would he be sad? Does he like me? No, no, no, no, "Oh, we'll see you around" he said, "Bye Hayes" I said and we both separated our ways, "Who was he?" Lacey asked, "Um, a friend" I lied, "Mack, really, who was he?" "Um the kid who, the kid who used to bully me" I said, "WHAT?!?! AND I TALKED TO HIM INSTEAD OF KILLING HIM!!!" She yelled, "Lace calm down, he apologized but I'm still doubting, he invited me, to um, to talk and "catch up" but I said no and I feel bad because I think he really meant when he apologized", "But did you forgive him?", Lace asked, I looked down and she asked asked, "Yes I did forgive him" I said, "I'm starting to think that he really is a good boy", she said, "When we were best friends I-I had a crush on him but telling him that would've ruined out friendship, he told me something that he didn't even tell his parents and one night he just ditched me, and since then my life has never been the same (A/N Did you see what I did there, what Shawn said)", I said almost in tears, Lacey just hugged me after, "Let's give him a chance, okay?" She asked, "I don't know, what if he does it again? I'd rather wait a little bit more", "Take your time, it's better", "Can we go now?" I asked, "Yeah, yeah, let's go"

When we arrived at the house, we picked the outfit that I was going to use, since he told me casual I was going to wear a plain but sassy white crop top with a burgundy color skirt and light blue denim jacket with a gold long necklace that my grandmother got me when I was 14. And then for the shoes I pulled out light brown boots. Lacey insists that I don't wear makeup but I want only a little to cover all my imperfections, *cough* *cough* all my face. Lace threw the pieces of clothes at me and told me to go and put them on.

"You. Look. SO. PRETTYYYYY!!!!!!" Lacey told me, I walked in front of my mirror and for the first time I look kind of pretty, I stood there and just examined the features of my body, how I don't like it and how ugly I really am, Lacey interrupted my thoughts saying, "Shawn is going to love it", I blushed and looked down, "Now! The makeup" Lacey practically yelled, she always loved doing this kind of stuff, like doing a "makeover" to people, personally, I don't like it.

She told me she was going to do my hair and makeup but she didn't want me to see, when we were in the bathroom she turned the chair so I couldn't see.

-----------30 min later----------

"Woah" I said, she did a wavy hair, put on natural makeup with a smokey eye and lipstick. It was 5:45 and Shawn was coming at 6:00 so I had 15 minutes to do nothing, just get more nervous.

I heard a knock on the door, Lace ran out of the room to get it, I tried to stop her but she didn't, "Hello, is Mackenzie here?" I heard Shawn ask, "Yeah, she's coming" Lace said, I stood behind Lace and tapped her shoulder, she moved out of the way so Shawn could see me, "Hi Mack... You look beautiful" Shawn said, "Let's go" I said, Shawn grabbed my hand and led me to his car, I looked back at Lacey and she mouthed me "Goooo Mack" oh Lacey.
