Slowly Falling

Chapter 2

{Zayn}

After I'd finished my phone call, and hung up, I turned around and saw a young, beautiful woman, sitting on the bottom of the fire escape stairs. 

"Oh hi, sorry I didn't see you there" I said, smiling at her. I could tell she had a shy personality because she blushed, and looked down at her feet. "I'm Zayn by the way" I introduced myself.

"H-hi Z-zayn. I'm P-perrie" she mumbled. She had a smooth soft Geordie accent, but I could only just pin it out, because her voice was stuttering in shyness. I smiled, and put my hand out for her to shake. She looked at my hand for a few seconds, before slowly reaching hers up to shake it. 

"Perrie is a beautiful name" I complimented. She blushed again, pulling her hand away from mine and looking down at the floor again. There was something about this girl that I liked already. She was cute, but in an attractive way. 

"Do you work up at the offices?" I asked. She nodded slightly, looking slowly back up at me. "Oh me too. What floor are you on?" I tried to make conversation with her so that some of her shyness would go away. 

"Um, f-floor t-three" she mumbled again. I smiled.

"That's where I am too" I responded, and Perrie flashed a small, but incredibly cute smile back at me. 

"Well I'd better get going, I've only got 15 minutes of my lunch break left, and I'm starving" I started. "Do you want to come with me?" I noticed she was at the last part of her cigarette, even though our conversation had occupied her mind, and she'd forgotten to smoke the last quarter of it. 

"T-thanks f-for the offer, b-but I'm h-having lunch with my a-assitant" Perrie mumbled, standing up from the step she was sitting on. That's when I saw her beautiful ocean blue eyes. They were incredible. Just by looking into her eyes, I was in love with this girl. I didn't believe in love at first sight, but Perrie was different. She had something about her that I couldn't resist. And those eyes. 

"Well maybe we could walk to the cafeteria together then" I offered. She smiled and nodded, and we slowly walked back up the stairs, and towards the cafeteria. When we arrived, Perrie smiled and waved goodbye, and headed over towards Jade Thirlwall. I grabbed my lunch, and sat on a table with a few of my collegues, which was in perfect view of Perrie. I smiled at her, unvoluntarily as she talked to Jade, and took mouthfuls of her lunch.

The next few hours of work, Perrie was the only thing on my mind. Once I'd finished typing up all the documents and files that needed typing, I wandered up towards the printer to grab them. When I arrived, Jade was there. 

"Good afternoon, Miss Thirlwall" I said, politely.

"Afternoon, Mr Malik" she responded, smiling at me. "Or should I call you, Mr Has A Crush On Perrie Edwards Malik" I looked up at Jade in surprise. How did she know? Perrie couldn't have told her, she didn't know I had a crush on her. Was my flirting really that obvious?

"What? I don't know what you mean" I lied, trying to hide my immature behaviour from the workplace. Getting crushes on collegues isn't professional at all. 

"Don't kid yourself Zayn. I saw you staring at her and smiling during lunch" Jade chuckled lightly. 

"Ok, so what if I did have a crush on her?" I questioned Jade.

"I'm not saying you can't. I think it's sweet actually. Maybe you should ask her on a date" Jade suggested. I smiled at the thought of Perrie and I on a date. 

"I only met her 4 hours ago. I'm not going to rush into asking her, I don't wanna scare her away" I answered.

"Well, I wouldn't leave it too long. Perrie's an attractive girl Zayn, that lots of guys would fall at their feet for. If you want to have a chance, I wouldn't leave it" Jade responded, grabbing her printing and walking back down the hallway towards her office. Would that really happen? Yes, Perrie is the most attractive girl I've ever laid eyes on, but would guys really be falling at her feet? I'll ask her tomorrow. Yeah. I'll ask her tomorrow.
