Study Date (#2)

Chapter Two

Liam smirked as he led her to the table, setting her things down next to Lily.

Jamie sat down silently and looked down at her food.

“I knew he could do it,” Edward stuck his tongue out at Talia again, “Unlike some people.”

"I'd put your tongue back in your mouth before someone decides to grab it and yank. Hard.”

"TALIA," Lily scolded, "How many times have I asked you not to insult or threaten Edward??”

Talia rolled her eyes, "Every day since you two started dating.”

Edward smirked at Talia teasingly before turning and giving Lily a peck on the lips, “Thanks Lily.”

Jamie couldn’t help but look at them with a dream expression, that was everything she had ever wanted. But that was never going to happen for her, she knew that.

"So, Liam, why don't you go ahead and ask Jamie what she was reading?" Talia said as she tossed another pea at him.

Liam rubbed his temples as he tried to ignore her.

“…” Jamie stayed silent as she looked around the table, how did she even get here?

Liam glanced over at Jamie, giving her a slight smirk, "I'm going to apologize for the person occupying the seat over there.”

Jamie smiled slightly at him, her bangs falling in her eyes before she swept them behind her ear again, “It’s ok.”

"So…. social studies is getting you down, huh?”

Jamie nodded, “I don’t know what it is about social studies, but I just don’t understand it…and if I don’t figure it out soon I’m going to fail the course and have to take it over the summer.”

"i'll help you out up until the last exam." He gave her a nearly invisible wink, "You'll ace it.”

Jamie turned the slightest shade of red as her gaze fell down to her lap and she mumbled, “Thanks.”

"Yo Mister "I'm too cool for everyone else", go throw away my trash." Talia pushed her tray over to him before taking a stick of gum out of her bag.

"It's your trash, you throw it away.”

"I don't want to get up.”

Lily sighed lightly and looked over at Edward, "Sometimes I could promise you that she's just a kid in a teenager's body…”

Jamie quickly stood, “Would you both just knock it off?” She asked angrily as she grabbed the trash and threw it in the trash cans that were literally three feet away.

Talia's eyes widened as she watched the quiet mannered girl suddenly turn into the Hulk, "Sorry…”

Jamie folded her arms across her chest as she sat back down and grabbed a text book, whenever she was upset she would bury herself in her text books.

“She’s doing it again,” Edward nudged Liam as he glanced at Jamie.

Liam used his index finger and thumb to push the book down out of Jamie's face, "Sorry…”

“It’s fine,” Jamie mumbled as she pulled away from him.

“Jamie…”

Talia stood and grabbed her things, sliding her bag over her shoulder. She felt a hand on her arm and glanced down to see Lily, "What?”

"Where are you going?” 

"To class.” 

Lily cocked her head slightly, "Already? Why?" She hardly needed Talia to answer her. She already figured that she knew why. Lily watched as Talia walked out, her eyebrows furrowing as she thought.

Jamie sighed and muttered something under her breath as she stood and shoved her book back in her bag, “I have to get to class,” She glanced at Liam, “I’ll see you after school in the library, right?”

Liam nodded, running his fingers through his quiff, "Yeah…"

“Alright,” She gave a small wave before leaving.

As soon as she was out of ear shot Edward looked at Liam, “Oh? In the library, huh? And what do you plan to do with Ms. Jamie in the library exactly?” Edward wiggled his eyebrows at Liam playfully.

"Study." He glanced over at where Talia had been, raising an eyebrow, "Where did the annoying thing go?”

“Class…” Edward raised an eyebrow, “If I didn’t know any better I’d think you liked her.”

"Well, you know better.”

Edward chuckled, “That’s what you said about Amy….right before you dated her for six months in eighth grade.” He stood, “I should get going,” He gave Lily a kiss on the forehead, “See you later babe, love you.” He whispered in her ear before walking off.

Somewhere in all the commotion Niall had disappeared, leaving Lily and Liam at the table alone.

"Liam…"

"I don't like her.”

Lily sighed lightly and stood, "remember what I told Talia?” 

"What?”

"I think you're protesting a little too much.”
