"That's not funny, Hitoshi," I scowled. "If it wasn't you, then who was it?"
He shrugged, appearing much calmer than he actually was. "I don't know..." Noticing the distraught clenching of my hands, he added jokingly, "You're not hooking up with another guy, are you?"
My eyes widened. "This is not the time for jokes, Asshole!"
He shrugged, chuckling when I smacked his shoulder. "Loosen up, would ya? Don't stress over it so much."
"Easy for you to say," I pouted. "You're not the one that's getting creepy roses sent to you by a wannabe Tuxedo Mask."
Hitoshi snorted at the reference. "We'll talk to Aizawa when he gets here, alright? I don't think that I can handle listening to your Sailor Moon woes for much longer."
"Oh, shush. I'm not woeful..." I grumbled.
Hitoshi's face softened upon seeing my sour expression and he leaned down to my height. "You're cute when you pout," he kissed my nose. "But you're cuter when you smile."
I blushed, turning away to hide my face from him.
"Cheer up, Sunshine," he slung his arm over my shoulders. "We basically have the whole day to ourselves. Might as well have some fun."
A grin fought its way onto my face despite my best efforts. I couldn't help it—his playful attitude was infectious.
"Okay, okay," I huffed, shoving his arm away and grabbing his hand instead. "You win. Let's go find somewhere to pick up coffee—I didn't have time for one this morning because of someone's inability to be punctual."
"Subtle," he jibed.
I stuck my tongue out at him and continued my way down the strip of colourfully adorned shops. Rows upon rows of bakeries, markets, and clothing stands all lined the road in organized chaos, their elegantly crafted signs with large, loopy lettering beckoning susceptible shoppers into their establishments. People milled about from shop to shop, sometimes stopping to make a purchase and sometimes simply stopping to browse.
A quick scan over the crowd turned up a little café at the corner of the street. I turned to Hitoshi with a grin.
"Target acquired," I said mischievously.
He blinked. "You probably shouldn't say that in public."
I rolled my eyes, just about to make my way to the promised coffee, when a small, furry creature caught my attention. It was darting from left to right between the legs of the people passing by. One particularly excitable child spotted the cat as well and tried to pet it, but in doing so the young girl pulled on its tail just a little too hard. My eyes widened in alarm as the cat scampered deeper into the throng.
"HITOSHI, THERE IS A CITIZEN IN NEED," I wailed. "I'LL BE RIGHT BACK!"
"What do you—?"
I waved my hands around frantically. "No time to explain," I gasped. "He's getting away!"
"(Y/N), we're on patrol together—"
But I was already flying down the street in hot pursuit of the fluffy tomcat with Hitoshi fading fast behind me.Hitoshi's P.O.V.
I watched (Y/N)'s retreating form until I lost sight of her in the densely populated crowd. She was screeching like a banshee as she not-so-gracefully shoved people out of her way, hurtling after something. By the looks of things, it was a black stray that was weaving a path through the chaos in search of shelter that (Y/N) was obviously more than willing to provide—I couldn't help but like her a little bit more at the notion.
I tsked, unable to fight the smile on my face as I dragged a hand through my spiky hair. Damn that girl and my soft spot for cats.
With an exasperated sigh, I made to follow (Y/N) when a soft tug at my sleeve had me halting in my place. I glanced to the side, mildly irritated by the intrusion, only to find the timid neko from my class. Saya Tanaka.
"Tanaka?" I questioned, still trying to track (Y/N)'s movements through the crowd. I caught sight of (H/C) hair and locked my eyes onto it. "I'm a little busy—"
"I-I'm really sorry to bother you, but..." She fidgeted awkwardly. "I'm kind of lost..."
Just like that, (Y/N) was completely swallowed up into the hoard of people. I suppressed the urge to groan. Fuck.
"Where do you need to go?" I asked flippantly. Upon seeing her flinch back from my brash tone, I sighed and elaborated, "I'm on patrol with (Y/N) right now, but it kinda looks like she's on her own mission for the time being... So I'll help you find wherever it is you need to go."
"O-Oh. I'm so sorry, I didn't mean—"
I waved her off. "Don't worry about it. I'll find her after I help you. Are you gonna tell me where we're going or am I gonna have to find it on my own?"
"Right! Um, I was actually hoping to find a pharmacy..." Tanaka stated. "My boss needs me to pick up his prescription."
I quirked a brow inquisitively. What kind of high school job requires pharmaceutical errands?
"Why are you the one getting it?"
She blushed. "Well, I'm kind of like his errand girl. He runs a small business just down the street and he doesn't usually have time to go do it for himself, so that's why I'm here!"
I nodded in understanding. "Must get busy."
Tanaka hummed in agreement.
Seemingly coming to a realization, she snapped her fingers and looked to me with blossoming enthusiasm. "Since you're going out of your way to help me and I kind of screwed up your plans, I'm gonna go buy you a coffee!"
"No, it's okay—" I protested.
The blue-haired girl bowed, only straightening to say rapidly, "Please, it would really make me feel a lot better about this whole thing!"
A heavy sigh escaped my lips and I pinched the bridge of my nose. My eyes closed for a split second, but when I opened them Tanaka was already rushing to the coffee shop at the end of the street.
Muttering a slew of curses under my breath, I leaned heavily against the nearest building and silently pondered how the hell I managed to get not just one, but two girls running away from me before ten in the morning...
