Marshmallow cheeks

27 4 5

I nuzzle the clouds against my marshmallow cheeks
Picking cherry blossoms off of swaying peaks
Flying yellow paper kites with ease
In a marmalade sky
Singing a melody to the bees

My feet are bare
Nothing but raw earth beneath
Whispering secrets to every soul I meet
The waves wink at me as I pass
Dancing like shimmering glass

I paint leaves a salmon pink
While my blood pools purple ink

The rocking horses ask if I'm okay
I'm fine I say
Just nursing a broken heart
That over time has become
Another perfected art

So no need to worry about me
I reassure  with a smile
I still have my humanity

The only casualty
Was my sanity
