"For all its worth, I at least got to spend a part of my life with him", she said, with a wistful look in her faraway eyes.Then, focusing them back on the girl she once despised, she continued, "But after all I'd done, he's never once looked at me like that." She shook her head slightly and gazed hard on the ground beneath.
"Like what?", the other girl asked, slightly bewildered at her forthcomingness.
"Like the way he looks at you", her eyes moistened and her breath caught on the next words out. "Like you've painted the whole wide world and put the stars in the sky."
