Walking down the aisle, he saw half his soul smiling ( along with silent tears ) in the front row; looking at them lovingly. He had his other half by his side. He wasn't giving his daughter away. She was not a possession. He was trusting the man at the altar with a piece of his soul.
Still, he needed to play his 'tough dad' role for the last time.
Aa if the tears in the man's eyes weren't confirmation enough, he asked, "Will you be able to keep her happy as I did?"
Her fiancé paused a beat, knowing he couldn't even come close.
"No", he finally said; looking at the father and daughter pair. "But I will sacrifice mine for hers."
And he knew then, he'd seen a part of himself in the man at the altar. And he wouldn't have entrusted his soul in any other hands.
