The person that addressed you squats down so you get a view of her face. Two worrying eyes look into yours. It's like they're begging you to answer her question. Flustered, you mumble: 'I just want to go home. Do you p-perhaps know the way to Dongbei?' You stutter when you hear your hoarse voice. While the woman wraps an arm around your shoulder, you feel very self-conscious. The proximity of the stranger makes you a little anxious.
Has she never heard of personal space? Cornered, you can only follow the woman's actions. She leads you to a nearby chair and makes you sit down. On the other side of the table, she sets herself down as well. 'I do not know where Dongbei is, miss', she starts talking, 'but I do know the way to my house. I suggest we go over there and discuss things there.' You notice her eyes skimming the room. Something is definitely not right...
Cautiously, she whispers: 'I'm not supposed to be here. And neither are you.' After a minute of silence, she adds hesitant: 'But you were able to see my all this time, am I right?' Stunned by this ridiculous phrase, you repeat her with a loud voice: 'You were able to see me? What kind of place is this?! I'm sorry not sorry, but I am able to see you very clearly and will always be able to. Unless you have some magical powers, this insinuates I would be visually impaired. You wench!' By the end of your response, you're shouting and your face is turning red.
Calm and collected, the stranger stands up yet with an upset face, she says: 'Don't make such a fuss. I was asking since I made myself invisible for others' She grabs your hand and tries to make you leave. However, you don't cooperate. When the doors suddenly open, she succeeds in getting you of the chair. While people enter the building, she drags you along as she runs away. Immediately, the ones who've entered start shouting and more palace guards appear.
You have no choice but to follow her. The guards are running closely behind you. Right before they are able to catch up, the woman takes a turn right and leads you to a little door. 'Here is a secret passage out of the palace. I won't take you to my home since they'll hunt you down. Hurry, run away! The guards might pass by again', she states. Nope, this is not a good idea, you think by yourself. Going back outside is definitely not what you wished for. There would be trouble for sure: you hadn't paid the inn and that couple of annoying pursuers would be there as well. No, leaving without a place to go to is not what you intend to do. So, you turn towards her and with big puppy eyes you beg her: 'Don't make me leave! I don't know the way home. Have pity, please.'
Seems like putting on an act worked as the woman reacts just the way they do in tv-series. Well, that's if you were to compare it. She avoids making eye contact and looks flustered. You'd even say she feels bad for you. With teary eyes, she responds: 'I didn't know. I can show you a place you can stay until you find a way home.' This time, she takes your hand and walks slowly. Every fear of getting arrested disappears when you have safely reached your destination.
