Hearing this, you feel the urge to step in. If someone's making plans to kill you, you deserve to know. Right? Nevertheless, you don't barge into their conversation. For once, you quickly overthink the possible consequences of your actions. Breaking into the room would obviously disrupt the flow of the ongoing conversation. Also, it's not completely unreasonable to assume that the Lord would refuse to tell you. You come to the conclusion that it's best not to move.
Unbothered by your train of thoughts, the two continue the conversation you have been eavesdropping. In a gentle tone, YanRan's husband talks TangTang through the vision. With a natural sort of ease, Lord Chens describes the horrible events he saw. Chills run down your spine. The level of detail he uses is horrifying. Fear makes your limbs go numb and you blank out.
' (Y/N) ', you hear your name called put loud. ' (Y/N) ! Can you hear me?', the same person continues. Regaining your spatial awareness, you feel your environment come back to its place. You haven't moved an inch. Only TangTang would care to check up on you, so you reason it must be your fiancé trying to wake you up. Unwilling to stand up, you pretend you haven't gained consciousness. Based on your previous experiences with your future husband, you assume he'll order some maids to put you to bed and he would call the court's doctors. There's no need for you to go to your room by yourself. Afraid he'll ask questions, you decide to act your way out of this situation.
Contrary to your deduction, it's not TangTang worrying if you're ok. You realize when you hear that person shout: 'TangTang, your fiancé has fainted.' Quick footsteps follow and within a minute you can feel the presence of another person standing nearby. That must be TangTang. 'Uncle, what's happened', he asks. 'Another case of a woman fainting suspiciously', the latter swiftly responds. His tone is enough to picture a facial expression that might come with Lord Chen's statement. He knows, doesn't he? TangTang, however, ignores the slight mockery and takes you into his arms. Stubborn, you continue pretending you've fainted for real. The fear of Lord Chen's vision coming true, temporarily paralyzes you.
Dear readers
This chapter is very, very short - which is intentional.
Writing 1k+ word chapters is not only a lot of work, it's also discouraging. Because I had the intention to write long(er) chapters, I delayed uploading them on Wattpad. This ended up demotivating me: it made me feel like I was unable to complete even one single chapter.
Hence, I decided to go back to writing like I used to. This means that the chapters will be significantly shorter. It also means that it won't take months to update this story. However, no false premises here: I'm not going to upload regularly. I never did and never will.
I hope this gives you -the reader- some perspective on this story and that you'll be able to understand my decision.
Lastly, this chapter's header is a guide to XNine / history of XNine. I wasn't sure if I should plug it in, but I'd like to introduce my readers to the group. I have put their songs as the header of previous chapters. If you liked the music, you should definitely check it out.
I hope you're all safe and healthy and 'till next time
