Julissa's POV

I stepped out of my car taking a deep breath of the Freeridge air. It still smells like piss. But I've missed this. I quickly grabbed my bags and went in to my house plopping on the couch.

It feels good to be back

The next morning

I woke up to loud banging on the door. I groaned getting out of my bed checking at the time. 7:30. A fucking M. Someone better be dying. I threw a t-shirt that reached just above my knees and walked downstairs to open the door. There were 4 teenagers that I immediately recognized. 2 of them were on my porch and the other other a couple of steps back.

"Juls!" Ruby exclaimed hugging me.

"I've missed ya Chico" I chuckled hugging him tightly. He pulled away with a huge smile on his face.

"Okay now it's my turn" Jamal pushed Ruby out of the way and gave me a bear giving moving us left to right. That was Jamal's hugging technique.

"God you've all grown up" I said admiring both of them.

I looked behind them were Ceasar and Monse were standing awkwardly waiting on their friends. I gave them a quick nod and looked back at my little brother and his best friend.

"You know you didn't have to come so early" I shot them a death glare.

"We know" Ruby smiled at me

"Ruby couldn't wait. I told him we should come over after school because I am a respectful young man" Jamal said sitting up as straight as possible making me laugh.

"Do you want me to take you to school?" I asked them.

"You still got Wendy?" Jamal raised his eyebrow.

"Please" I scoffed grabbing my keys and closing the door behind me.

I led them to my car which Jamal decided to call Wendy because it looked like a Wendy to him. Ceasar and Monse were still standing outside confused.

"Are you coming or what?" I poked my head out of the window. They looked at each other and got in the car.

Ruby was talking about his summer and was whining about not going to any parties until we reached a red light. I noticed a red car pull up beside me and as I looked at the wheels I had realized that it was that red impala I wish I'd set on fire. I looked to my left to fully face the driver. He was already smirking at me as he turned down his music.

"Welcome home, mamacita" he grinned at me

"How was jail, Puto" I raised and eyebrow at him

"Could've been better with you" he leaned towards the passenger seat's window.

"Well we don't get everything we want in this life, do we?" I looked at the now green light before speeding off making him chuckle.

"Why do you hate each other?" Monse asked

"We have our differences" I responded as stopped right outside of their school.

"Have fun!" I yelled sarcastically once they got out of the car.

I drove back to my house and decided to make breakfast. I pulled my phone in my speaker and blasted my music as I made myself some pancakes.
As I was eating I was staring at the pictures I had on the wall of me and Ruby feeling instant regret. He doesn't really know why I left and I wasn't really planning on telling him the reason. I quickly grabbed my phone and texted him.
