Cameron was a boy, a sophomore at that. Meaning he was 16 years old, on his second year of high school. He was a small boy, about 5'5 in height, and really slim. Cameron often wore dark colors, and baggy sweaters or hoodies. Another choice of clothes was slim skinny jeans, with rips on the knees. Along with that he would wear black vans, or his only really pair of shoes that he liked.
The big hoodie made him look only smaller, as the cloth engulfed his body. Realistically, cameron was skin and bones...He disliked eating. His hair was black and usually neatly piled onto his head. Unfortunately, his skin was very pale so, the black clothes made him look even lighter. Though he wasn't very worried about his skin tone. And even worst, the dark bags under his eyes really stood out. Cameron compared himself to have the completion of a zombie.
That wasn't the thing that bothered him the most. His mother had gone on a ramble about how scenery and people would be a good thing, considering the accident. Unfortunately the accident wasn't so much of an accident. But Cameron simply didn't want to argue nor discuss the issue. Plus, once his mother always been keen to put her foot down and go through with her plans once she made them. There just wasn't a way to convince that woman of anything. He was simply pushed away and told about how things would be better.
Cameron also had agreed to move because he knew his mother was stressed out, and scared. He probably would be too if he saw what she did. But now things were different, she partied him, and gave him anything he asked for. Cameron saw the look of concern in her eyes when anything mildly bad happening and it made him feel like shit. She was a totally helicopter mom now.
What hurt worst than moving was that his mom didn't trust him to handle himself, and all she saw was a damaged little boy. He liked to be self-sufficient and not having his mom breathing at the back of his neck. Unfortunately, that was not going to happen any time soon. Not at the rout they took now at the least, maybe in a few years.
Cameron slowly opened his eyes, temporarily forgetting where he was as his gaze slid around. Memory hit him, he had gotten into the car with his mom the previous night, they had started the drive to Oregon. They were in California so the drive was only about 9 hours with good traffic and few stops. They had been driving all night, and luckily he got much needed sleep. Sleeping was hard for the male...he had nightmares that kept him up. So when his sleep was peaceful, he was grateful.
Cameron slid his eyes over to the dashboard and noticed it was 2:15 into the afternoon and the house was only 10 minutes away according to the GPS. The drive seemed so short considering he slept the whole time. Cameron had only been to Oregon about 6 times to see grandparents and such, so the area and land marks were new and unseen for the most part. Instead of greeting his mother, cameron peered out the window and watched as the road slid by. The small shops and houses they passed by were pleasant and easy on the eyes. At least the town wasn't intimidating like everything else surely would be.
After about 8 minutes they rolled into a drive way. The house was a nice white color, clearly two stories with clean, curtain covered Windows. The outside had freshly mowed, green grass. The kind that was soft to walk on barefoot. The roof had grey tiles on it, which seemed pretty standard. The house was ordinary, with nothing too note worthy. The front lawn had a tree in it, a nice tree with thick branches that spread out. It would be nice for shade and climbing, maybe a swing.
"We're here!" Cameron's mother chirped out in relief as she shut the car off and practically threw herself from the car.
"Yay," he murmured dully in response as he watched his mother stretch her arms and legs. If Cameron was honest, his butt was sore as well. With much less enthusiasm, he climbed out of the car and approached the house, taking up the stone steps of the porch in order to be by the door. It wasn't a long wait before his mother rushed over and used her fancy new key to open the door
"Oh hunny, go pick a room while I bring boxes in," his mother chirped and placed a sloppy wet kiss on Cameron's forehead before she bounced off. What ever his mom was on, he wanted it. Cameron wished he had that much energy or joy about anything really. But he didn't argue, he didn't even have a chance to as the woman bounced off so quickly. It wasn't like Cameron wanted to carry boxes back and forth anyways, and he was a bit curious about the inside. They had never lived in a double story home before. He assumed they couldn't afford that...clearly he had just been wrong.
With a moment of hesitation, cameron walked inside. The house smelt musky, like dust and something odd. Not completely horrible though. The black haired male walked around the lower level, looking at the large area he assumed to be the living room first. The inner walls of the house were a shade of egg shell blue. Not his first choice, but Cameron wasn't gonna complain. The floor was wood, and a more red tinted wood at that. Cameron wasn't a fan of wood floors, you had to sweep so much and the wood was always cold in mornings or at night. Plus he just loved a nice soft carpet. The house seemed to be empty, but maybe it was just the living room. That's all he had seen so far, after all. There was a big window in the living, covered by a black curtain that blocked out the light. The roof had one of those round light fixtures that worked with a switch, that was located by the front door. He turned the light on so more of the house would be lit up. After seeing nothing interesting with the living room he decided to progress.
