"You almost got what now?" Gina asked in horror as we walked towards the car. I shrug, "I mean, I would've handled it." I said and She rolls her eyes "You were drunk, What could you have possibly done to save yourself?" She asked flatly.
"I was sober enough to kick some ass." I said defending myself, She raised her brow, "Yes, But you also told me that you tried to hide from Ashton ... In a pool." She said, "When did this become an 'Attack Summer' conversation?" I whined as I got into the passengers' seat. "The moment you decided to do dumb shit. How is that not obvious." She replied. I rolled my eyes and shifted the subject I know she loves. "So, What's the move for spring break?" I asked her.
She turned her head to the side for a bit before looking back at the road but the smile on her face was huge. "It's a two-week break right?" She asks. "Yup." I responded, Popping the P. "We should rent a beach house." She chirped, "I'm surprised you didn't suggest flying down to Miami." I said with a raised brow, "Nah, I've heard about what goes down there, Also the whole world is going to be in Miami. I want to do something different." She says with a small shrug as we pulled into a coffee shop parking lot.
"Huh, Never thought of it that way," I said as I got out of the car. "So, You said you were up close and personal with Ashton the night of the party, right?" She asked and I nodded. "Yeah, But why does that matter?" I asked. She shrugged. "I heard he resembles a greek god. Something about his eyes being hypnotizing, And I heard he's covered in tattoos. Some people say that his eyes are grey, others say its blue. Is any of that true?" She asked me, I raised my brows at this question. I did see him up close and personal, Just not long enough to answer her question completely.
So instead of giving her half of the truth I just shrugged. "I don't know. I wasn't that close to him." I said as I walked through the door some man was holding for us. "Bummer, I mean he has to be super hot if they compare him fo a Greek god, I mean a GOD? Come on." She says dreamily. "I think they only used the word term greek god because as of now they're hearing more than anything else. Like the day of the party, Cupid was the topic." I said "Cupid? Diaper baby with a boy and arrow cupid?" She asked. "You are correct," I laughed "Mrs. Walker seemed so fascinated by the topic and nobody stops her when she gets to ranting. I mean I can't blame them. The topic is really interesting." I said.
"I heard there was a lot of incest going on though," Gina says with a slight shudder. I laughed "Loads of it. Greek Mythology is a crazy topic and a terrible family tree to actually follow." I chuckled. "I heard that Ashton hates Valentines day though, Something about his first love dying at midnight on Valentine day. Has to be tragic." She whispered. My eyes widen at this, That made a lot of sense. "Okay, That makes sense. Because he snapped at me for saying 'Happy Valentines' day' I didn't know ... Now I feel terrible." I said playing with my fingers. "You didn't know? How did you not know?" She asked confused.
"Unlike you Gina, I don't keep up with the latest gossip. So I know nothing about him, only that he isn't a murderer. Or so he says. See I know nothing." I said throwing my hands up. The guilt starting gnawing at me slowly. I felt bad knowing that I could have possibly bought up old memories he kept locked up by saying those three words. Everybody knew about this but me. I didn't even realize that I was shaking until Gina placed her hands on top of mine. "It's not your fault." Gina cooed. I breathed in and closed my eyes, "I could have possibly triggered one of his memories, Gina." I mumbled.
"I'm sure you didn't," She said, "Look, I'll get you some lemonade and I won't speak of him anymore, Okay?" She added. She stared for a while as I calmed myself down then nodded. "Okay, I'm fine," I said with a small smile. "Great, Because Spring Break is in like three weeks and we should get to planning." She beamed.

"You want to rent a beach house ... from Airbnb." I repeated, She shrugged "Yeah, I mean I've done it before, It's perfectly safe." She said as she sipped her s'more drink. "Just the both of us? Or you're inviting some friends?" I asked. Unlike me, Gina was somewhat popular at school and for what reason, I'm not sure. "Uh, Maybe. But I was thinking ... Since you and Chris are cool ... You can invite him? And if we're lucky ... Ashton too." She smiles, her eyes glittered with hope. I raised my brow.
"No." I said shaking my head, Her smile deflates "No?" She questions, "No way, why them? Invite one of the cheerleaders or something, One of your friends ... I don't care who but those two? No. I won't do it." I said. She sighed and shrugged "I'll guess they'll remain a mystery to us then." She says. "Some things should be kept secret you know," I told her. She squints at me and gave me a questioning look, "Do you know something I don't?" She asks. "What? I wish. But no, What I'm trying to say is that maybe they have a reason why they're keeping their private lives ... private. Also, it's their private life they don't have to share anything with the student body of the school or any school." I said. She raised her brow and blinked twice then nodded.
"You're right. I'm sorry." She says sheepishly. I took a sip of my drink to distract myself from the gnawing of the guilt that I felt earlier.
Yeah. Me too.
