May POV, September, 5, 2014

I opened my eyes and jumped out of bed with a burst of energy.

Today is my thirteenth birthday!

I ran towards the bathroom and brushed my hair quickly and brushed my teeth. I got out of the bathroom and ran downstairs not bothering to put on my school uniform. I smell the pancakes before I even reach the kitchen and can't help but let out a mmm at the scent.

"What's cooking mama?" I laugh and my mom rolls her eyes as she flips the pancake in the pan.

"Well, obviously the pancakes are cooking," She responds.

"I know, it's a rhetorical question." I counter.

"Ever since you learned what that was you won't stop asking those types of questions." Mama frowns.

"Oh well, mama you'll have to deal with it for another couple of years." I laugh and she sighed.

"Go get ready for school the pancakes aren't going to grow legs and walk away." She says and with a loud groan I get up and head upstairs to change into my uniform.

I put on my navy blue pants and the light blue shirt with the schools symbol, a jaguar roaring. I smile at the jaguar, that's the only thing I like about the uniform.

"May, get down here!" Mama yelled and I made my way down the stairs as the scent of pancakes made my stomach grumble and intoxicated me.

I swear if I don't get a pancake right now someone is going to die... And it won't be me.

"Yes, mom," I say with the fakest sweetest voice I can manage, "Will you be feeding me now like any good mama should?" I asked sweetly and she glared at me.

"I was going to ask if you wanted whip cream with the pancakes and your present, but you seem to have woken on the wrong side of bed so you will be getting neither." She grinned when she saw my shocked expression.

"But mom! It's my birthday! Aka, the day the most magnificent person on earth was born," I blew my mom a kiss and she laughed.

"I seriously hate it when you pull the birthday card and it bothers me that you keep saying abbreviations in real life like lol." She said and I laughed this time as I sat down on the chair waiting for my plate of wonders to come.

"Yet you still love me mama," I licked my lips as she set the plate in front of me and I immediately grabbed my fork that mama barely had time to slap my hand away. "Ow!" I yelped as I rubbed my hand, "You didn't have to slap my hand away," I whimpered and pulled my best puppy dog eyes.

Mama rolled her eyes, "You know you're supposed to wait for everyone at the table to sit down and say the prayer."

My stomach growled, "I doubt I can wait for the prayer so if you don't mind I'm going to just eat my pancake in peace..."

Again, she slapped my hand away, "No, your birthday card won't save you this time! You can eat earlier if you go wake up your sister Lilly."

Mama and I glared at each other until I finally blinked and with a groan got off the chair and went back upstairs (How many more times?) to wake up my sister. I opened the door to her room which is a bright pink, it really hurts my eyes...

Her room isn't any better.

The walls in her room are littered with anime posters and her drawings she had manga all over the floor, some in the corner stacked or the lucky ones on the shelves. Her wall is a bright pink and the floor's carpet is black and soft. Lilly loves pink and black mixed so she has pink blankets and black pillows. She had a large board hanging over her desk with sticky notes on the next conventions for stuff and with a to see anime list and another one for manga.
