Chapter 10 - The Car

'Well what are we going to do?" I asked.

"I'm very sorry Rosa, but it wouldn't be safe if you stayed here. Jasper is going to train us and the wolves to fight newborns to be prepared when they come, in case we need to fight them. The army are violent won't stop at anything to kill a human. You are welcome to stay for a little while but we are going to be doing a lot of training, that you will probably be unable to do and when they come I think it's best if you leave. I know you were supposed to have a nice, fun trip with us but I'm sorry, I guess it will have to be cut short."

"It's okay. I'll stay tonight but I'll leave tomorrow morning. I should probably get going anyway."

"Okay, great. I would say you could borrow my truck to drive there but it would take days, so we can get you a plane ticket and me and Edward will drive you there tomorrow morning, before training."

"Wait! Where am I going next!?" I ask excitedly.

"New York I believe. To visit the institute! Tell Jace I said hi by the way." Yes! The Mortal Instruments!

"Will do! That reminds me; Gus said to say that he misses you."

"Well I miss him too," She smiled.

Half the people had gone home by this point but I stuck with Bella and went to meet the other Cullens (Edward, Rosalie, Emmett, Alice, Esme and Jasper). I chatted with them and helped them clean up once everyone was gone. I was just going to bed when I remembered the bracelet. I looked over to Bella, but she didn't have it on so I looked around for it. I eventually found it on a table in the hallway. She must have forgotten about it in amongst all of the craziness. I slipped it into my pocket and went upstairs to bed.

The next morning, I woke up early and got ready to leave. I went downstairs and was greeted by Edward.

"Hello Rosa. How are you this morning." He smiled politely.

"I'm great thanks. A bit sad to be leaving but ready to move on."

"Good. We are going to pick up Bella on the way but we will just go to Seattle airport again."

We got in the car and drove through the forest to Bella's house. The forest looked different in the day - bright and magical and alive. The trees were tall and thin and covered in layers of green moss. Sunlight shone through the trees and dappled the forest floor. Even though it was reasonably grey and moody, there was an astounding beauty to it. We picked up Bella and began on our way to the airport.

"Have you had a good trip Rosa? Even though it was very brief." Bella asked.

"Yes thank you. I was glad to meet you all and I had a good time last night," I answered. "So what's going to happen now with the army?"

"They will arrive in three days. We don't know exactly what they want or why they're coming but it's not going to be pretty. We will train for the next few days and we will be ready when they arrive. Hopefully, we won't have to fight but something tells me that that's not going to happen," Edward replied.

"Well good luck! I hope it all goes okay." I say.

"Thank you. Well I hope you have fun in New York. We are good friends of the shadow hunters, especially Jace, Isabelle and Alec. We are the kind of vampires that they approve of," Edward laughs.

"Thanks. I've never met them before but I'm looking forward to it."

We drive some more through the rainy streets of Washington, chatting and joking, until we reach the airport. Edward and Bella check me and my bags in and walk with me to security.

"Thank you very much for letting me stay for the short while that I did. I wish you the best of luck in the future and I hope to see you again," I say to them.

We say our farewells and I walk on, ready for my adventure in New York.

Sorry, it's only a short one. I'll see you guys on Friday!
