Newt climbed down from the tree and walked anxiously towards me. I grabbed his hands and danced around in a circle.

"What the bloody hell has got you so excited?", he asked curiously. I dropped his hands. I didn't know how to explain it. I couldn't remember my own name? As if I wasn't strange enough already. I dipped my head and stared at the ground. "I couldn't remember my name", I said quietly. "Of course you could; no one can when they first arrive", Newt answered.

No one? Out of about forty people here, not a single one could remember their own names for a while?

"So what is your name?", questioned Newt. "Lyza", I whispered.

"I'm sorry, what?"

"My name is Lyza", I said a little louder.

"Well then Lyza, how about we go get some food?", Newt said with a smile. His smile was adorably contagious.

We walked to a building larger than most but still kinda small and I grabbed a sandwich. There was an awful lot of noise in there, so I went outside to eat. Shortly after I had sat down and leaned against a tree, a few boys came out of the ramshackle building. They looked around then started heading my way.

A tall boy in front stopped a couple inches away from the tip of my toes. "I'm Gally", he said. I nodded slowly. He had dark brown hair, quiet a large nose, and some mad eyebrow game going on.

He stuck his hand and I shook his hand. "Whatever these shucks tell you, I'm the one in charge of this place", he informed me confidently. I'm soooo sure.

"What? Did they give us a mute girl?" He asked sarcastically. I frowned and shook my head slightly, causing my apparently existent bangs to fall in front of my face.

He continued to taunt me, but I tried to keep myself from getting in trouble. My cheeks burned red and I had tears in my eyes. All the other boys around him laughed at whatever he said.

"Guess she's deaf boys. That's a shame; she sure is pretty", he remarked jokingly. I looked back up and stared into his eyes, quivering with hatred. I hated Gally so very much already.

Just as Gally was about to begin another joke, Newt walked out of the building. He looked around until he spotted my behind all these boys. He walked quickly towards me and I lost it. I got up and walked towards him and wrapped my arms around his waist. I took notice to the fact he was a bit taller than me, but I was just shorter in general. I didn't cry, I just sat there.

"God Gally, what did you do to her", Newt asked astonished. "She wouldn't come anywhere near me earlier", he added. Gally shook his head. "I didn't do anything!" He protested.

I whipped my head around and stared at him.

"That's a lie", I whispered.

"I'm sorry mute, I didn't catch that", he mocked.

I blinked furiously trying so hard not to try. I tried again. "That's a lie Gally. Leave me alone." It wasn't a whole lot louder but Newt heard me for sure. Gally might have, but I didn't bother finding out. Newt steered me away from the group and towards a building larger than most. But before he even took a step, he turned back around and called Gally "the biggest shuck-face that ever lived".

"This place is called the Homestead. This is where some of the guys sleep, but a few of them prefer to sleep outside", Newt explained. I nodded but then froze. I turned my head to look at him and tugged on his hand. He leaned closer to me and I asked, "But what about me?" He laughed a bit and then answered. "There isn't an more bloody room, so for now you are probably going to sleep in someone else's room." My eyes widened and I just knew I couldn't do that.

"Relax", Newt said, "Would you be alright sleeping in my room?" I thought about it for a moment, then nodded. I could do that.

We walked up a stair case and down a hallway to his room. We went in and I just stared. There was only one bed/cot thing. I turned to him and tilted my head quizzically. He walked over to a box in the corner and pulled out a sleeping bag. "I'll sleep in this", he stated. I shook my head. I couldn't make him give up his bed for me. But he insisted, so I climbed onto the bed and laid down, staring at the ceiling. Little did I know in about three minutes I was going to have the biggest panic attack of my life. That I could remember anyways.
