"Right Angela. Shall we review the diary?"

"Yes, Ms Marsden."

Angela had been Ms Marsden's PA for almost five years now. Although she had a good education and was a hard worker, her sex was against her in the workplace – until she became an essential part of Ms Marsden's team.

"Now – the meeting with the bank. I'll need the sales figures for the last quarter. Can you get those?"

"Yes, Ms Marsden."

The pay was not the best. In fact, Angela's salary now was less than it had been in her previous post. But there was more to the job than just money.

"Could you also check the booking at the restaurant? I'll be having lunch with a client, and we need to make a good impression."

"Yes, Ms Marsden."

The perks of the job made up the low pay. Angela had her own corporate credit card and a clothing allowance. She went with Ms Marsden on business trips. Also, if Ms Marsden received a bonus, then so did Angela. Ms Marsden was very successful.

"Oh – Angela. Remember that you have to be at the airport tomorrow morning for the flight to Frankfurt. Bring your passport and an overnight bag."

"Yes, Ms Marsden."

But, best of all in Angela's mind, was the access she had to the powerful and the important. In her time with Ms Marsden, she had learnt who did what and how to get them to do what was needed. One day someone would have to take over from Ms Marsden, and Angela was determined that she would be that someone.

"One more thing."

"Yes, Ms Marsden?"

After all, there were people who would kill to have this job.

"Mr Worth is being a problem. He needs to be taught a lesson. I think he needs a Brooklyn stomping – eighty per cent, please."

"Yes, Ms Marsden!"

In Angela's opinion, it was the perks that made her job worthwhile.
