Catherine has been given the opportunity of a lifetime. She is to be an intern at a wolf sanctuary! Before her internship begins, she goes on vacation to her best friend's family lake house nearby, where she meets a mysterious guy who says he wants to "claim her". Catherine does her best to resist his irresistible charms, but his animal magnetism ignites a fire in her internal wolf. A wolf she never knew was inside of her. (Please note: This is a short story. Calandra the mermaid gets caught up in a web of treasure-seeking pirates. This was supposed to be a vacation! Warning: non-graphic violence abounds and there are definitely feels here. Takes place in the setting of my fantasy world for "Bastian's Song", but it stands alone and you certainly don't need to have read one to understand the other. My heart died. And tears in my eyes. This is such a beautifully written short story that I can't fathom how such a story can hit your feels so hard. But this did.
