Falcon woke to the sound of tapping at his window. He groaned but got up and opened it, gently stroking the bird that came through. "You got a letter for me?" He rubbed his eyes and took it gently. "From Hermione? Couldn't she just give it to me?" He untied the sapphire ribbon and unrolled the parchment. His eyes scanned the letter, his jaw getting tighter with each sentence. "Those bastards." He hissed. 'Dear Falcon' It read. 'I know it is late, but I needed to tell you something urgently. Ronald Weasley and his brothers, along with most of the other Gryffindors, are using me to get close to you. They noticed you were friendly to me, and decided to force me to get to you. Please know I would never do something like this, they threatened to tell the Ministry I was plotting against wizards, and have my magic bound. They also said my parents and I would get locked up for life. I tried to say they wouldn't believe them but they said that no one would believe a mudblood like me. Please help me Falcon.'
The next morning, the Slytherin dorms were tense and quiet. Falcon stood in front of the full house, with Fred and George on either side. When he had told his fellow snakes about the Gryffindors plan, the room had erupted into hisses of anger. It had taken a few minuets to placate the angry serpents, but eventually, the room had quieted and the planning began. Obviously pranks were a far to easy punishment for the lions, but they couldn't exactly beat the crap out of an entire house and get away with it. They needed to find a way to wound the pride of the house, so they wouldn't dare plot against the serpent house again. Tension was high until a seventh year found a book deep within the private Slytherin library titled 'The Founder's Laws'. The seventh year had pointed out a law created in case the houses ever threatened each other. The rule read, "If a house has caused another insult or pain, or plotted against them, the house that has been slighted may initiate a duel. A representative from each year of the challenging house may choose another from the insulting houses of their own year. Each pair will duel, and the house with the most victories wins the duel. The victors obtain all points from the other house, along with the founders item. If no item is available, the winning house may select a student from the defeated house to be expelled. In the duel there is no killing allowed, and all spells are able to be used except for banned spells. Creature inheritances may be used.To initiate a duel, each representative must summon their house animal and have it bite the one you challenge. (A spell keeps the bite from doing damage.) The bite will fade from the challenged house if they win, but will scar if the loose. The challenging house will always have a black mark of the challenged houses bite. This rule is not to be taken lightly." He had even found a rule that would allow Hermione to be resorted.
Luckily it was a weekend, so the older students had time to learn the spell and teach it to younger ones, and choose who would represent each year, as well as who they would challenge. It was decided that Marcus Flint would challenge Percy Weasley as fifth years, Falcon would challenge Ron as first years, Fred would challenge a Gryffindor named Alexa Bell as third years, and so on. With that decided, all that was left was to sneak the snakes into the Gryffindor common rooms to bite the challenged. Thankfully the twins had managed to get a fellow third year Gryffindor that had been fond of the pair to tell them the password. The seven chosen Reps couldn't wait to see the look on those cowardly lions' faces when they were challenged.
