Chapter 1

Sal's POV

I woke up to the sound of my alarm. It was a Monday morning and that meant school. Great... I finally found the energy to get out of bed and get ready for school. I went downstairs and found Gizmo on the couch watching TV, I gave him a little pat on the head and went over to the kitchen. There was a note on the counter and I picked it up:

"Hey bud, I'm gonna be gone for a few days due to work. Make sure to take care of the house and yourself. Love ya, Dad."

I sighed and put on my mask. Dad was always working it seemed like. I never get time to hang out with him and most of the time I'm just here at the apartment by myself. I grabbed my backpack and headed out the door. 'Another day of shitty school..' I thought to myself.

After a few minutes of waiting, the bus finally arrived. I got on and sat in the back of the bus. I suddenly hear my friends, Larry and Todd laughing. Larry went and sat next to me and Todd sat across from us, reading a book of some sort.

"Hey little dude, how are you doin?" Larry asked me.

"I'm doing alright, what about you?" I responded.

"I'm hangin in there," Larry said with a soft smile.

Larry has been my friend ever since I moved into the apartments. Todd has as well. I layed back in the seat and looked out the window. I then felt a buzz, I got my phone out from my pocket and looked at the screen, it said "Unknown". The message said, "Hey..." I looked at my phone with a confused look in my eyes. I just deleted the number and message, it was probably just some random person with the wrong number. I put my phone back in my pocket and saw Nockfell High in the distance. The bus suddenly stopped and I got up. Larry, Todd, and I both walked out with bored expressions on our faces.

It was lunch time at last. I saw my friends at the usual lunch table we sit at and motioned to them that I would be there in a sec, I looked at the menu to see what was for lunch. Of course, it just had to be bologna day. While I was waiting in line for my lunch someone unexpectedly pushed me onto the ground.

"Move it nerd!"

I looked up and saw Travis. I got up and dusted myself off.

"Oh, hey Travis how's it going?"

He glared at me and then started yelling at me again.

"You're in my way, you gay freak!" Travis stammered.

I rolled my eyes and decided to just head to the lunch table instead. I wasn't hungry anyway...

I sat down with the squad, sighing. Larry looked over at me.

"Hey bro, you okay?" He asked.

"O-oh! Yeah, just tired." I smiled softly, trying to reassure him that I was fine, even though I wasn't really..

I have a secret that I've never told anyone before, not even Larry.

I'm gay. And I have a huge crush on Travis.
