Virgil had made a huge mistake. What kind of mistake? Well, he had signed up to work behind the scenes for his high school's upcoming musical. One of his closest friends had pressured him into it, claiming that he, "Would enjoy it" and, "Would meet fun new people".
This couldn't have been further from the truth.
Now, Virgil found himself hiding out in a storage closet, on the phone with said friend.
"Patton, I still don't understand why you made me do this." the teen muttered under his breath, praying that nobody would hear him and force him to go wait for practice to start with the other students.
There was quiet mumbling for a few seconds on the other line, no doubt Patton speaking with his boyfriend Logan, before he got a response of, "I told you that you could make some new friends! The theater kids are so nice. I thought you would like them..."
Virgil felt his chest tighten at the disappointment in his friend's voice. He hadn't meant to upset him. Besides, he wasn't wrong about them being nice. He had to admit he'd actually made some friends. "Yeah, you're right. I'm sorry, Pat. They are really nice kids," he paused, sucking in a breath, "But there's just one problem..."
"Oh? What is it? Who do I need to beat up?!" Patton shouted. Virgil couldn't help but chuckle at the thought of his innocent friend threatening to beat up another student.
"No, it's not like that Patton. It's just... The guy playing the lead role is really attractive. Like, really attractive. You know what I mean?" He regretted what he said the second the words left his mouth. He swore he could feel the joy radiating off of his friend through the phone.
All that could be heard on the other line for the next few seconds was the sound of Patton squealing. Virgil bit his lip. Why had he said that? He'd never hear the end of it now.
"Oh my gosh! Virge, isn't the lead Roman Prince? You guys would be so cute together!" Patton chirped, and Virgil swore he could hear Logan mutter an agreement. He cursed himself under his breath. Now that Logan agreed, he'd really never hear the end of it.
"Well, yeah he is. But he's so popular and he'd never like someone like me. Anyways! Bye Pat! I have to get to the booth!" And with that he hung up, not wanting to hear Patton's response. Sure, he felt bad cutting his friend off like that, but he seriously couldn't handle talking about his crush any longer. Besides, he did actually have to get to the control booth as he knew they would come looking for him if he stayed in the closet much longer.

Virgil hastily entered the auditorium, only to immediately run into none other than Roman Prince himself. The other also seemed to be in somewhat of a hurry and Virgil quickly realized he wasn't even in costume yet. "That's weird," he thought, "We're supposed to start in five minutes."
The other male's voice quickly roused him from his thoughts "Ah, jeez. Sorry. I'm kinda in a hurry if you can't tell. Somebody thought it'd be a great idea to hide my costume." He sounded irritated, and rightfully so. This wasn't the first time his costume had been taken, and Virgil was sure it wouldn't be the last.
"Oh, that sucks." He mumbled, mentally kicking himself for not having a better response. Then, he remembered his friend Dee telling him about the many times he had stolen the costume to mess with Roman. He saw his chance and took it. "Do you want me to help you find it? I have a feeling I know who took it, and they usually hide it around the same spot."
