"So I guess I know why you always get perfect scores on the tests now." Adrienne said, somewhat quietly.
"Yeah, I guess you do." I replied.
Silence.
"I know what you're thinking. Not because I'm looking inside your head, but because it's obvious. I don't go rooting around in people's head's for fun. I respect their privacy." I said.
"How do I know?" She said, distrustful.
"Because I can only see the things that I'm searching for, for one. I guess I could probably go rooting around in someone's brain, but if I don't know what I'm looking for then I won't be able to find anything." I said. "Plus, you're a really good friend of mine. The last thing I want is for you not to trust me. Trust is extremely important, especially because I'm a half light or whatever."
"I guess..." She said.
"Come on, after all this time. You're going to stop trusting me now?" I said, a playful smile spreading across my face.
"No, I guess not." She said, sighing.
"Let's watch some Naruto okay? I don't want to think too much. You know, overthinking causes a lot of stress, even with all my abilities."
"Yeah, you're right."
She eased down onto the trundle bed, just as Roscoe leaped up onto the foot of my bed. He almost jumped right on her stomach. Roscoe liked to think that he was my guard dog, and even though I didn't need him, I treated him like one. Mostly by letting him sleep at the foot of my bed, but also by keeping him by my side as much as possible. He was a good boy, even though he didn't realize that I was way stronger than any human could be. I grabbed my wireless mouse to turn on the show we had been watching, Naruto. Soon we were going to be moving onto the better part of it, the Naruto Shippuden arc. But that was still about 50 episodes away. Yes, this show was an anime. It really didn't deter me from it. I liked having long shows to watch, and this one had to be the perfect definition. I brought Adrienne up to speed on what I'd watched without her and we resumed where I had left off.
One of the greatest things about the show was it gave me inspiration for all the cool fights I could have with the sparing bots back in the demon world. Back there, we had a place made just for fighting. It was known as the sparring dojo. There were these incredible robots that were made to take all the beatings we gave it, and maybe even counter if we wanted them too. They were good for demons that had an itch to kill for example. We couldn't let those demons run rampant in the human world, considering we needed humans to mess around with and balance out.
We were halfway through the episode when Adrienne asked "So, what are you going to do about this whole Hannah situation?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well, you guys both like each other, now what?"
"I haven't even thought about it since I told her... Ever since my dad came and there's all this prophecy stuff.. should I really worry about a relationship right now?"
"You're flip flopping."
"What??"
"You can't decide what you want to focus on right now and what you want to put on the back burner. Ryan, you realize you're the strongest partial human there is, right? I'm not trying to minimize your stress or anything, but you need to realize that this isn't going to be the end of the world."
"How do you even know?! I've never experienced anything like this before! And you sure haven't either."
"Even still, I believe that you've got this in the bag. The prophecy even says so."
