"Ryan you overslept. Come on, you've got school today." My mom said, standing in the doorway to my room.

My mom was a really nice person. She wasn't someone that had to worry about me much. Even though she didn't really want me missing school, I had been getting straight A's for as long as I could remember, and she knew that. Being late to school a few times wouldn't kill me. Even though I wanted to miss school and head back into the demon world to find more information, I realized that Eddie knew I was inside his head. He had to have known, at least at the end. I was kicked out of his mind by the memories. They were so strong that I couldn't handle them. Plus, he did see me falling after all. Did I really want to go back to that? I trudged over to my dresser, grabbing clean clothes out of the drawers. How was I supposed to explain what was happening to anyone there? I know that someone other than Eddie had to have seen me falling, and demons don't usually have bad balance, so there would be a lot of drama about that. Hopefully I'd get lucky and someone who didn't know much saw it, and wouldn't think too much of it.

I took my usual morning shower, but rushed it of course, brushed my teeth, attempted to run a comb through my stupid curly hair, threw my clothes on and headed out the door.

Another really good thing about being a demon was that I had a huge affinity for computers. I could control them pretty much with my mind. I just placed my hand on top of the case and I could control everything from there. Did I always use my powers wisely? No. That's why I had a bunch of money in my bank account. I stole it. That's how I was able to afford a super fancy car.

I must have been super lucky that morning because I had enough time to stop for breakfast at Dunkin on the way to school. I must not have really been that late after all. The line wasn't even long either. When I got to school I ate my breakfast in my car because I really didn't want to deal with people this early in the morning. Apparently I didn't have a choice. Someone was already knocking on my window.

Of course it was Alistor, and one of her stupid friends. She was in a cheery mood like always and was in the mood to be annoyingly cheerful.

I just gave her a look. Do you really want me to roll my window down? Because if you know me, you should know not to speak to me before I drink my coffee.

She smiled eagerly anyway, running her mouth about something I couldn't hear. Her friend was looking at her nervously. Even she knew what was coming and Alistor couldn't see it. I rolled my eyes and rolled the window down.

"Did you hear anything I just said?" She asked, her voice bouncing around inside my brain like a pinball

"Yeah." I grumbled, almost hearing the little bells and whistles from a machine. 500 points!

"Good, so you'll help me?" She asked

"Whatever you said, it sounds like a bad idea. Hey, you know who's really good at helping with stupid ideas? That guy on your bus, who's also in my choir class."

"Tristan?" She asked

"Yeah, him. He'll go along with anything." I said rolling my window back up

I tapped into her mind quickly to figure out what she had asked me to do. She wanted to play a prank on Sebastian this morning? Who the hell was Sebastian? I didn't even know the guy. He looked ugly anyway. They walked away towards the building, and I turned back to my phone, turning on a youtube video that I didn't have the chance to finish the day before.

My days in the human world pretty much always looked the same. I spent a lot of time alone. A few days a week I would have my best friend Adrienne over, and she would sit on my bed and talk to me while I worked on a new project. She was a very good listener, and extremely good at giving advice. She was also the only human other than my mom to know about demons. And she's seen my powers, so she knows it's real. We hung out a lot in school too. We've always had a few classes together throughout the years. We were in choir and lunch together, as well as math and English and a few electives. After all, she was my best friend. After I finished my breakfast, I shut off my car and grabbed my backpack. It was time to start my day.
