Jonah bore the message
That he had from god;
"The Assyrians must hear it
Cross you ocean alike clod!"
Stepped then Jonah
But the tide dim part,
A great whale beached
Halt tale bid impart.
A devilfish this surely sent
Burst with squall and spume,
Deep in the whaelfish's crimson self
Jonah found a room;
Not much, humble set of four,
Table, chairs to his work scribe
While the whale increasing sore
Wondered what had he imbibed
That sang aloud human tongue,
Lived where none survived
By God's grace with message true
Was gifted ten long lives.
