Doraemon's Short Stories (Book 1)

Book of New Discoveries

At Nobita's house, his mom said to them as Doraemon and Nobita were pulling the weeds, "Pull those weeds in the garden! Pull also the root so it won't grow again!"

But for a moment, Nobita said "What am I? I forgot! I'm going somewhere!" but Doraemon also said "Oh yeah! I'm going somewhere too! Hehehe." But after they went outside, Nobita said to Doraemon "Oh no! Then, who's going to pull out the weeds in the backyard?" and Doraemon said "We're doomed!"

Nobita said as he went to the right, "I'm going somewhere, and this is important!" but Doraemon complained, "Me, too!" But Nobita asked him "Then, where are you going?" and Doraemon also asked him "Where are you also going?" So they separated ways...

While Nobita was walking the through the vacant lot, Dekisugi was showing something to Shizuka. He said "There's a strange type of butterfly they found at the Himalayas." Shizuka was shocked and looked at the book.

Nobita went to him and said " Strange? What's that?" Dekisugi answered him. "It means it's different from the normal. It had different from a person or an animal." and Shizuka said " Did you know that mountain cat of Iriomote and the Kuina bird of Yanbaru?" So Nobita was schocked, "Ha? News are spreading all over the world when they found a strange type of thing or animal?"

So he went near to a forest and tried to catch some strange types of something, "This is why I'm going somewhere! To find a strange type of animal or thing!" So he catches a butterfly and showed them to Giant and. Suneo, "What's this? Is this a Cabbage Butterfly? Or is it a strange type of Cabbage Butterfly?" so he explained it all to them... " If I'm right, I'll be famous!" but Giant and Suneo laughed. They said "Yeah, you'll be famous. Famous in Stupidity! Because no one's doing what you're doing!" So Nobita walked out and went to Doraemon.

Nobita said to him " They just laughed at me! I just wanted to find a strange type of something!" so Doraemon stood up and said "I'll help you if you pulled out those weeds!" but Nobita agreed. Doraemon brought a book, "Book of New Discoveries!" Nobita opened the book and he saw a hole, "It's really strange" then Doraemon said "Okay, get me some insects."

After a few minutes, he went back with an insect. Doraemon took the insect and placed it on the hole of the book. Then he pulled out the antenna, "There! Now all the dragonflies will be strange!" So Nobita told him to change it, and brought him a cockroach. Doraemon replaced the dragonfly with the cockroach. Nobita went out, holding a cage with a cockroach in it, "Different kind of a cockroach? I wonder what's it look like?"

So Giant and Suneo went to him and said "Did you find something new? Where is it? I wanted to see it!" but as they soon looked at the cockroach, they were shocked and confused about it's figure. Suneo said "What's that?" while Giant said "Don't know, this is the first time I saw that!" so they went to Dekisugi, the expert in insects.

But after they showed the weird cockroach, Dekisugi searched all of his books. Suneo said "Even Dekisugi, who's expert at insects, don't know this!" while Giant asked him "Is there anything about this cockroach in the encyclopedia?" But Dekisugi answered "In any encyclopedia, there's nothing! It means this is a new discovery!"

Suneo and Giant was shocked, "And Nobita we the one who found it?" Nobita was very happy and said "I'll be famous and people from around the world will know me!" But for a second, Nobita saw the cockroach, "Oh no! It's running away!"

So his 3 friends kept searching for the strange cockroach at Dekisugi's backyard. While Nobita was laughing and went home. He said "I've tricked them so I'm going home." but before he could go in, Suneo called him "Psst! Nobita! I'll give you this comics, if you teach me how to get some more cockroaches." so Nobita gave him a little house, "You'll get more at the place if the house of dirty! You'll get a lot!"

So Suneo was going to Giant's house, "Yup, Giant's house is really dirty!" but Giant saw him and said "What about's in our house?" But Suneo said as he was shivering "No, nothing! I just wanted to visit you." So Giant said as he left, "Is that why? Okay, i'll get some more insects. Go on our home, I don't care."

So Suneo went inside and placed the little house at the dirtiest place in the house. While Suneo was nearly done, Giant went back, "I forgot something." but he saw Suneo holding something.

A few moments later, Nobita looked at the window and saw Giant chasing Suneo, "They had a fight." So Nobita took the cockroach out of the book and went to have a nap.

Doraemon went in and found Nobita lying on the floor "Hey! I thought you're going to pull the weeds!" Then Nobita stood up and said "That's it!"

So he went down with the book of new discoveries and grabbed a piece of weeds from the backyard. "Then, I'll place this weed from the book of new discoveries."

Then he called Giant and Suneo, and he showed them the strange type of weeds. Giant said "Is this a different kind of weed?" while Suneo said as he picked up some, "Is it okay to get some? You're so very kind, Nobita!" Nobita was very happy and said "It's okay, take it all if you want to be famous!"

While Doraemon was just standing behind Nobita, shocked about his idea...
