"The super concert's coming up soon. We should probably practice," Jinyoung mentioned as he and Jisoo sat in their break room.
"Oh right! I'll get Doyoung," Jisoo was about to get up from the couch when the door swung open, their heads turning in unison to see who was walking in.
"Hyung, Noona. They're calling you in for a quick meeting about the super concert in a few days," Doyoung announced, as he held the door for them.
"Aren't you needed in there too?" Jisoo asked as the two headed out the door. She noticed that he had already changed out of his MC clothes into his casual attire.
"No. I won't be MC-ing this time because I have something already scheduled that day," Doyoung pouted, "You guys are gonna have to do without me,"
"It's okay," Jisoo reassured him and reached up to ruffle his hair a bit, "We'll see you at the next recording for Inkigayo,"
Doyoung then put on a funny face at her show of friendly affection, swatting at her hand while trying to fix his hair. Jisoo pulled away and held her hand to her chest, playfully acting like it had hurt her.
Jinyoung smiled at her action, admiring how she always managed to be comfortable and get along well with those around her. The moment she had walked into their first meeting as MC's, her bubbly personality and simplicity had caught his eye ever since, and Jinyoung hoped they could become closer rather than remain solely as colleagues.
"Good luck with promotions, Doyoung-ah. We'll be rooting for you!"
They waved each other goodbye as he made his way down the hall with his manager.
Knocking on the door of the meeting room, Jisoo and Jinyoung waited until they heard a 'Come in' from a staff member inside. She entered first and abruptly stopped in her steps, Jinyoung stopping right behind her.
Taehyung was sitting at the table on the opposite side of the room, his deep, enigmatic voice hypnotizing the staff as he talked. The conversation paused as he met her surprised eyes, before they melted into that familiar eye smile. He gave the two of them a small wave.
"Surprise!"
Jisoo froze, suddenly remembering the way his hand felt in hers when he had talked with her that day. Ever since then, Jisoo hadn't gone back to pick out a new book to read. Instead, she spent the next few days pondering over what he had said.
Her head was consumed by the fact that she had opened herself up to him, even crying in front of him. She couldn't help it, but thankfully, Taehyung didn't run away. He didn't change the subject nor did he fall silent. Her vulnerability was something Jisoo rarely revealed in front of others, and she was truly grateful for Taehyung's words of advice.
She was anxious about what she should say to him in light of the new side of her he had seen, so she decided on avoidance until she was ready to face him. However, his incessant text messages that were random and out-of-the-blue made it really difficult to do so.
Slightly confused by the fact that Jisoo stood frozen in front of the doorway, Jinyoung gestured for her to enter the room, pressing a hand against her back. She snapped out of her trance, feeling multiple sets of eyes on her as she took a seat beside Taehyung, Jinyoung on her other side.
"V will be the special MC filling in for Doyoung at the super concert," the director explained when they settled down in their seats. He went into further details regarding the script before concluding the meeting quickly.
"You didn't tell me you were hosting the super concert with us," Jisoo said as they walked out of the meeting room, Taehyung and Jinyoung following as the three agreed to skim over the script for the first time.
"You didn't answer my texts or the fun pictures I sent you. I didn't see you come by for a new book either, so I never got around to tell you,"
"I didn't ask for pictures of your feet, Taehyung,"
"It was only a picture of the movie I was watching! My feet just happened to be in the shot," He said defensively, "I showed you my feet, why didn't you respond?"
"What am I supposed to say? Nice feet?"
"Yes,"
Jisoo held back a laugh, not expecting Taehyung's feet to be their next topic of discussion after their moment in the library. Taehyung shrugged. He was worried that what he said to her might have made things awkward between them, but he was relieved to see that Jisoo was smiling again.
"You guys are awfully close," Jinyoung laughed, but he couldn't help but feel a bit bothered by their interaction. Jisoo was known to be quite popular amongst many idols, but she was never seen giving them any direct attention unless it involved her work. So, seeing Jisoo act so comfortably around Taehyung put Jinyoung off.
"No, I don't know him," Jisoo feigned ignorance as she turned towards Taehyung in confusion, "Who are you again?"
"First you ignore me and now you don't remember me? Kim Jisoo, I'm hurt,"
Taehyung clutched his heart, a pained expression on his face and his knees wobbling dramatically as put his hand on Jinyoung's shoulder. Jinyoung stifled a laugh and played along with the his antics, supporting his weight and giving Jisoo a disapproving look.
He brushed off his irritation, thinking it was a bit childish of him to feel this way about someone he only works with. Taehyung was a social butterfly, known to be both charismatic and respectful to everyone he encounters. There was no reason to feel unsettled with him being around Jisoo.
"Alright kiddos, settle down. Let's try to get through this script at least once, please," Jinyoung wrapped his arms around the other girl's shoulders leading them back to the break room to practice.
