Hazel's POV:
a year had passed and quite a bit had changed
Hayes and I drifted apart mostly, we still did hang out every now and then though. Max and Ashleigh got back together and broke up, then got back together again. Harvey and I went to homecoming together, had an amazing time there and an unforgettable night once we went back to my apartment.. but after that we decided it'd probably be for the best that we stayed just friends.
Max and Harvey started getting big on social media as well, so it was probably for the best that Harvey and I didn't work out.
Don't let that get you sad, we're still great friends and didn't let that change our friendship very much.
Max and I also grew closer friends, he didn't have many friends that are girls so when it came to getting advice about Ashleigh I helped him out.
"you guys excited?" I ask Max and Harvey, taking a sip of my coffee.
"extremely" Max nods, taking a sip of his coffee.
"it'll be cool" Harvey answers, checking his phone after.
Max and Harvey would perform for the first time with probably around one hundred people watching them.
"you're not nervous?" I ask.
"nope" Harvey shrugs, typing on his phone.
"a little, but I'll have Ashleigh and you coming so it'll be alright" Max says.
"you guys got this" I tell them. "which song do you think you'll sing first?" I ask.
"our manager doesn't want us talking to people about it" Harvey says, not looking up from his phone.
"woah Harv, chill it's just me" I chuckle.
"I'm gonna head home" Harvey gets up, walking out the door of the café.
"what's up with him?" I ask Max.
"he's had such an attitude lately, it's annoying" Max sighs.
"even with you?" I ask.
"yeah, he's been acting like that to our Mum too it's weird" Max says.
"maybe he's just stressed?" I guess.
"I don't know" Max takes a sip of his coffee. "He usually doesn't handle stress this way"
"Or usually he'd tell me about it" I sigh.
"I'm sorry Haze" Max says.
"don't be" I shake my head no.
"my brother's an idiot" Max says, causing me to laugh a little.
"he is" I nod.
"it's too bad you two didn't work out, he really likes you" Max says.
"liked" I correct him. "he liked me, as in the past tense" I say.
"he's stressed, he'll figure it out" Max tells me.
"hopefully" I nod.
"and if not, you'll find someone better" Max says.
"thanks Max" I felt a little better after talking to him.
"of course" Max smiles a bit. "you wanna head over to my place and write for a bit?" He asks.
"I would, but Hayes wanted to hang out" I explain as we got up. "Sorry"
"don't apologize, it's all good" Max chuckles. "I'll pick you up from his house if you need me to later" he offers.
"that'd be great actually" I nod. "could you pick me up in like an hour?" I ask.
"yeah" Max nods. "I'm gonna go visit Ashleigh until then"
"alright, see ya Max" I say, walking out of the café.
I walked to Hayes's house and knocked on the door.
After a few seconds the door swung open.
"Hey Hayes" I say as the door opened.
"Hayes is in his room" Jack, who is Hayes's older brother. Jack was in college so he wasn't around much.
"oh okay, thanks" I say, walking in.
"he's finishing up some homework" Jack says as I walked in.
I nod a little.
"You don't talk much anymore do you?" Jack looked a bit confused.
"well what do you want me to say?" I chuckle.
"you haven't seen me in almost three years, I don't know" He laughs a little.
"well how has college been?" I ask.
"it's been really good" Jack nods. "How's High school?"
"it's been normal" I shrug. "it's been high school" I lean against the wall.
"you haven't missed me too much have ya?" Jack smirks a little.
"nope" I popped the 'p'
"cmon, I know you have" Jack looks down at me "before I left we were good friends" Jack goes closer.
"Jack, I'm here to hang out with Hayes" I remind him.
"and I just want to hang out with you, just like old times" Jack says, getting even closer.
"that's funny" I let out a nervous laugh.
"I really still make you nervous?" Jack asks, grabbing my wrist.
"Jack let go" I tell him.
Jack rolls his eyes. "you're still as annoying as you were three years ago" he presses me against the wall.
"I'm gonna go to the bathroom" I push him off of me and quickly walked to the bathroom, locking the door behind me.
I whipped out my phone and tried calling Harvey a few times and he didn't answer.

I gave up on Harvey and texted Max.

Max Mills POV:
"so you're just gonna leave me like this for another girl?" Ashleigh glares at me.
"Ashleigh, she's in trouble" I tell her.
"so you care more about that Hazel bitch than your girlfriend?" Ashleigh crosses her arms.
"I'm done having this conversation Ashleigh, I'm going to go help my friend out" I walk out of her house.
I go to my car and started it up before pulling out of her driveway and driving to get Hazel.
I park my car on the side of Hayes's house and walked to the door, knocking.
The door opens a few seconds after and there was Hayes.
"uh Hey Max?" Hayes looked confused. "what's up?"
"I came to pick Hazel up?" I tell him.
"Jack said Hazel left a little bit ago" Hayes looked confused. "But you can come in to check if you want"
I nod and walked in. "Hazel? You in here?" I yell.
After a few seconds Hazel and some dude walked into the room.
Hazel had a bruise on her cheek and looked mad.
"you ready to go Hazel?" I ask her.
She nods yes and walks out the door quickly.
I walk after her and she stands by my car.
Once we both got into the car I start it before pulling out of the neighborhood.
"so do you wanna talk about what happened?" I ask her.
"can we wait until we get to your house?" she asks quietly.
"of course" I nod, driving down the road.
most of the car ride was silent, until I parked my car into the driveway.
"Jack was over there" she mumbles as I turned my car off.
"who's Jack?" I ask her.
"Jack is Hayes's older brother" she says. "it's a long story, so I get it if you don't want to hear about it, sorry I probably sound annoying" she says looking down.
"Hazel, i promise you that you're not annoying me" I tell her. "tell me about what happened"
"Jack was a senior when I was a freshman" she says. "Jack took my first kiss and my first other things" she tells me. "but he also hurt me a lot back then and he's visiting Hayes and I didn't know he was gonna be there today" she says the last part quickly, starting to hyperventilate.
"take a deep breath" I tell her. "it's gonna be okay, I promise"
she nods a little, taking a deep breath.
"so I knocked on the door and Jack answered" she tells me. "he tried to flirt with me a little and pushed me against a wall so I went into the bathroom and texted you and Harvey" she says. "after that, Jack unlocked the bathroom door and tried to kiss me" she says. "I told him no and he got mad" she starts to hyperventilate again. "that's why I have a bruise" she admits, her hands starting to shake.
"Hazel, I'm sorry" I tell her. "you need to calm down though" I say and she nods, her hands shaking.
"I can't" she says, looking scared.
"it's gonna be okay" I say. "take a deep breath and close your eyes" I tell her.
"Max I can't do this" her eyes start to water a bit.
"you can calm down, I know you can" I tell her.
"I mean Jack, I cant have him around me again" a few tears go down her face.
"let's calm down first before we worry about him okay?" I put my hand on top of hers, rubbing her thumb slowly to try to calm her down. "now take a deep breath and close your eyes" I tell her.
She closes her eyes and starts to take deep breaths until she calms down.
"thank you max" she says once she had calmed down
"of course" I nod.
"sorry I freaked out" she apologizes.
"it's okay, you're okay now and that's all that matters" I tell her.
"honestly I don't know what I'd do without you, Harvey doesn't care anymore and neither does Hayes" she sighs.
"you always got me Hazel" I tell her.
"thanks" she smiles a little.
"mhm" I smile back.
