"What? You see him? Well... Not everyone else is ready... Just... Try and get him to come back without things escalating... The others will be there soon."
The Hokage, Ino Yamanaka, hung up the phone and breathed heavily. Naruto had been gone for a couple of hours now, and she'd already gotten word from Rock Lee that he was still close-by. Lee was one of 5 shinobi that Ino has selected to go after Naruto, but, of course, he wanted to get a head start. Ino looked up at the rest of her "Task Force" and managed a small smile.
"The good news, is that Lee found Naruto..."
"And what's the bad news then?" A raspy voice interjected. The voice, belonging to Gaara of the Sand, sounded even less amused than usual. Ino sighed and tried to maintain her composure.
"The bad news, is that last time we saw Naruto he attacked Sasuke... And there's nothing stopping him from doing the same to Lee now."
"Then what are we waiting for, Lady Hokage? I think it's clear that we need to go after Lee now to ensure he doesn't get hurt." Neji Hyuga, the 3rd member of the "Task Force" asked. Ino admired his enthusiasm, but wasn't sure if sending everyone at once was a good plan.
"I agree that some of you should head out... But to send out all of you might be more of a risk than I'm willing to take." Ino once again looked up to see Hinata, Neji's sister, unable to hold back tears amidst all the talk of Naruto. Her voice was soft and barely audible as she spoke up.
"I-I don't care how unsafe it is... If anyone is going after Naruto... It's going to be me." It was unlike Hinata to ever volunteer for the dangerous jobs like this, but, Ino admittedly saw it coming. She nodded, smiling out of the corner of her mouth.
"I agree. Hinata, you and Gaara will go out tonight and follow Lee, calling back any significant updates as they come in. As for the two of you, Sasuke and Neji, I need you here on watch in case... In case Naruto comes back more angrily than he was earlier." The two men nodded as Gaara and Hinata headed out the door. She watched from the Hokage's Estate as they ran out of the Leaf Village gates and towards the forest, a sour feeling hitting her stomach.
"Please Naruto... Don't make me..."
