Because it was your first time on a plane you didn't really know what to expect. When the aircraft took of it felt like you heart went into your stomach, you glanced at Loki, who was sitting on the aisle seat, he looked calm though you could tell he was a bit irritated by the crowd. You studied his face, he didn't look to be 1048 years old, more like 19, 20 at the most. You had so many questions but decided that now wasn't the right time to ask them. Turning back to look out your window you gasped at how high up you were, you were never one for heights but you couldn't deny the view was beautiful. You look down at your watch, you had been on the plane for 35 minutes though it felt like 5, only 25 minutes to go before you would be landing in Melbourne where you would catch a direct flight to San Francisco then to New York. Looking back to the window all you could see was ocean then very soon land appeared, the seatbelt sign came on and the captain informed the passengers that they would be landing soon. 'The flight had seemed rather short,' you thought as you watched the ground race towards you, with a bump the plane had landed and came to a stop. You undid the seatbelt and watched Loki do the same, grabbing your bag you stand behind Loki, waiting to get out. Loki scowls at people as they walk past him down the aisle, impatient to get out. You make you way off the plane and follow the crowd inside, following the signs to the departure wing you nervously look around unsure of where to go next, seeing a family with tags on their bags saying San Francisco you decide to follow them, questioning the staff as you go along to make sure your on the right track.
"You don't seem to know what your doing (y/n)", Loki pipes up
"I've never done this before", you mumble
Loki doesn't answer and proceeds to quietly observe. Before you know it you and Loki are back on another plane with you on the aisle seat this time, looking down at the paperwork in your hand you read over the information. The flight is supposed to take 14 hours, you groan at the idea of having to sit for that long. You rummage through your bag to find your book, it is one of your favourite books, House Rules by Jodi Picoult, you find your page and start reading, only stopping to go to the toilet. At page 231 your eye lids begin to feel very heavy, closing the book you look over at Loki, he is rolling a green orb the size of a marble over his fingertips, you find yourself mesmerised by it, his magic is quite beautiful and you are about to ask how he does it when the orb disappears and he shifts, turning his head to look out the window. Little did you know, the god had been reading over your shoulder. Turning back to face the front you lean your head back and close your eyes, with the image of the orb dancing around in your head, you drift off to sleep.
Loki's head snaps around as he feels you slump against him. You had fallen asleep and gradually slid in your seat till your head fell to Loki's shoulder. The god is about to shove you off but decides against it. He was never fond of hugs or being touched, he liked his personal space but you looked so tired. Having decided not to wake you Loki mumbles something about you being a pathetic mortal and turns to look out the window once more.
When you wake up, you slowly open your eyes, half expecting to be looking at the plain walls of your room but as you take in your surroundings you find that strange dream had been real. You look at your watch, it reads 6:15, about seven hours left before you arrive in San Francisco. When you land your watch will read 1:00 in the morning but you knew better, in your maths class you had learnt about the time difference between countries and how to calculate the ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival). You decide to try and work out what time it will be in San Francisco when you arrive to kill time. You get out your paper and pen, you need the departure time, trave time and the time difference. Then you need to add the departure time, travel time and time difference.
Loki looks over your shoulder at your calculations.
"I believe you are meant to subtract seventeen hours not add it", Loki states
