I sat beside Nick, still thinking of everything that he had told me earlier.

I forced myself to leave his room, it was getting stuffy and I was getting suffocated.

“Do you want stew?” Nick asked, nervous, I nodded and watch him put some on my plate. “Anything else?” I shook my head.

“Where are those brothers of yours?” Aunt Hannah asked, “It’s not as if a little girl can give them a run down.”

Nick and Uncle Jacks chuckled.

“What?” she asked.

Then we heard laughing and squealing from the halls until a blur ran into the room and came to a halt across Nick.

“Nick!” a little girl squealed and ran to him.

He moved his chair to give her space to jump on him making him groan as she giggled and hug him.

She moved away and gave Nick what seems to be her angry face. “Nick bad.”

“Me?” Nick played along, “What did Nick do now?”

“Nick not home.”

“I’m home now, aren’t I?”

She shook her head, “Ground.”

“Nooooo!” Nick nuzzled his nose on the crook of the little girl’s neck making her giggle and hit him on top of his head.

“You should have gotten her.”

I turned and saw the twins coming in, all ruffled up and out of breath.

“She’s been running all over the place.” The other one said.

“Well, that’s your fault for having her all riled up.” Uncle Jackson said, “Told you not to give her that éclair until dinner time.”

“She’d be up all night if she did have that éclair now, sweetheart.” Aunt Hannah said, “Nick, let your sister down so she can eat.”

“But she’s being mean.” Nick tickled her on the stomach making her laugh out loud, the most beautiful laughter I’ve ever heard.

“Top! Top!” she shouted in between laughter.

“Promise not to ground me.” Nick tickled her more.

She starts to kick around hitting the table and, somehow, me in the process. I move away as I continue to watch them, amused.

“Nick, she’s hitting Keyana, stop that.” Aunt Hannah said.

Nick looked over his shoulder, eyes wide. I rolled my eyes, grinning on how easily worried he got.

“Sorry.” Nick says, sheepishly.

“I’m fine.” I said.

“Girl.” The little girl said.

“That’s right.” Nick says, “Patch, meet Keyana.”

“Yana.” She repeated.

“Ke-ya-na.” Nick says.

“Ke- ya- na.”’ Patch repeats.

“Very good!” Nick says.

“Very good!” Patch claps.

Nick gave her a look, “Now you’re just imitating me.”

Patch gave him the same look her hands on her hips, “Now is ting me.”

Everyone laughed making her giggle.

“Meanie.” Nick crosses his arms.

Patch does the same. “Nick.”
