Its late May, and the summer is almost here. I am hanging out with my best friend Lani, as it is the weekend. "Girl, chill. You dont need to scream at the top of your lungs when you get hit by a red turtle shell."
"I didnt ask for your opinion, Lani." We both laugh. Its common for us to hang out over the weekend just to end up playing Mario Kart together. Most of the time, Lani wins, but this time I am determined to win.
"Hey, stop that!" Lani screams as I race past her in my motorcycle. "Damn you!" I snicker.
Time passes and it gets to be around nine o'clock. We turn off the Wii U and head upstairs to brush our teeth and say goodnight to my mom. After brushing our teeth, we go to the living room to find my mom. She is sitting on the couch with her dinner still on her lap, fast asleep. I whisper, "lets not wake her up, come on." Lani follows me as we tiptoe downstairs. We get in our sleeping bags and I flick off the light.
"Hey Raina?" I look up as Lani whispers to me in a hushed tone.
"Yeah?" I answer.
"What time is it?"
"Around eleven. Why?"
"Shit. I wasnt supposed to sleepover."
"Wait, what? Why the hell didn't you tell me earlier!"
"I forgot!"
"Damn it. Ill walk you back."
"Thanks." She smiles. I face away from her to turn on the light. We pack up her bag and head upstairs to go. Walking out the door, I check in on my mom, who is still fast asleep. After around ten minutes of walking, we get to her house. Lani is much more wealthy than my family is, because it is just me and my mom. We walk up the steps to her front door and I reach to knock. She grabs my arm and tells me to not, as everyone would be sleeping. I nod silently. She unlocks the door and steps inside. I smile and she thanks me quietly. We waves and she closes the door.
