"Nicole," Waverly whispered, sitting on the edge of the hospital bed, Nicole's cold hands in hers. She gently leaned forward and kissed Nicole on her pale forehead, a tear rolling down her cheek.

"Please come back to me," she whimpered. The doctors had decided to put Nicole in a temporary coma, so she could heal better. They had told Waverly and Wynonna that she was lucky to even be alive. The revenant had definitely done a lot of damage, slicing through some major organs. The doctors had to basically replace her liver, stomach, and a few others. She was almost cut right through. But he assured them that she would make a full recovery, after she woke up from the coma that they put her under.

Waverly heard Wynonna from behind her, and she glanced up, wiping her wet cheeks.

"Come on baby girl, you haven't been out of this hospital for a week and a half now. It's time you went home and got some rest and real food. I'll stay here with Nicole," she said, motioning for Waverly to follow her out of Nicole's room.

"Just for a few hours," Waverly replied stubbornly, gathering her coat and overnight bag. Wynonna had been bringing her fresh clothes everyday, along with shampoo and other bathroom needs. The hospital had been kind enough to let Waverly use Nicole's attached bathroom to shower in, seeing as Nicole wasn't using it.

"We got the bastard by the way," Wynonna said as they made their way downstairs. "He had a machete, which is what he attacked Nicole with. He could change shape somehow, to look like other people. But we got em'."  Waverly nodded.

"Good. That asshole almost killed my girlfriend," Waverly replied, wiping a tear from her cheek.

"Hey," Wynonna said, stopping outside to pull her baby sister into a hug. "It's all going to be ok. Nicole's tough, she'll pull through. And that asshole is in hell now, he's not coming back." With that, she kissed Waverly on her forehead and wiped a few stray tears off her cheek with her thumb.

"I know," Waverly whispered tucking her head into Wynonna's shoulder. "Thank you."

Once Waverly was in Doc's car and on the way to the homestead, Wynonna grabbed herself a coffee and walked back to Nicole's room. Sighing, she sat herself down in the chair beside the sheriff's bed, where Waverly had been sleeping. Wynonna wrinkled her nose, wondering how on Earth Waverly could get any sleep in something so uncomfortable. She sipped on her coffee for a while, listening to the sounds of the hospital. She then shifted her gaze to Nicole. She looked so peaceful, Wynonna almost forgot why the red head was in here, but the little nagging feeling of guilt was still there to remind her of exactly what had happened. She leaned forward, setting the warm cup down, elbows on her knees.

"You know, this is the longest I've ever been sober. I hope your happy," Wynonna chuckled quietly. She watched Nicole's chest rise and fall for a minute, then started talking again, even thought she knew Nicole couldn't hear her.

"The truth is, I can't even bring myself to drink, knowing that your in here because of me. I would get drunk to try to forget it, but I don't want to forget it. You almost-"  Wynonna hesitated, trying to regain control of her shaky voice.

"You almost died, because of me. For me. And I will never forget it," she said, wiping her nose and sitting up. She listened to the heart monitor for a minute, relieved for the consistency in the beeps. Placing a hand on Nicole's and patting it lightly, she smirked sadly.

"Now quit lazing around and wake the fuck up, everyone misses you too much. Especially Waverly. And I do too," she added. Just then the nurse came in to check her various levels, and Wynonna cleared her throat, standing up, giving the nurse room to work. As she watched, she hoped that the red head would wake up soon, and not just for her drinking health.

"How is Waverly doing?" Dolls asked under his breath to Wynonna, his arms crossed in front of him. They stood in Nicole's room which was filled with balloons and cards and flowers. Waverly was in her usual spot next to her girlfriend, hand in hand.

"Nicole needs to wake up soon, Waverly is going to go crazy," she replied, shifting her weight from one foot to the other, absently biting her thumb nail. Dolls looked at her with his knowing eyes.

"Are you sure it's you who isn't going to go crazy?" he asked. Wynonna looked up at him, snorting.

"I'm fine. It's all fine. She's going to be ok," she replied, returning her gaze to the two girls on the other side of the room. Nicole was looking more frail as the days went on.

"I'm glad I made Waverly go home for a few hours yesterday. She needed it," Wynonna murmured.

"I think you need the same thing," Dolls said slowly. Wynonna rolled her eyes.

"Look, I'm fine. I've been back to the homestead multiple times, I'm fine."   Dolls nodded.

"I just know what PTSD looks like, and you have some. I think you should go home and rest up, that's all," he said, walking out of the room. Wynonna snorted again.

"I should go kill some dickface rev-head is what I should do," she said to herself.

"Hi, this is Purgatory Kindred Hospital calling about Nicole Haught, is this Waverly Earp?"  a female voice asked through the phone. Waverly's breath hitched in her throat, and her voice came out in a whimper, dying to hear what the receptionist had to say but also terrified.

"Yes, this is Waverly, how is Nicole doing?" she asked.

"She is doing very well, no need to be worried. I actually called with good news, she's awake and asking for you," the voice on the other end of the line said. Waverly started shaking.

"I'll be right there!" she squealed, hanging up and running towards her Jeep, towards the hospital, towards the love of her life.
