"Nicole! Cover me!" Wynonna said as she rushed into the abandoned barn on the outskirts of town, peacemaker in hand. They had tracked a revenant here and were going in after it, Wynonna, Dolls and Nicole.
"I'm on it," Nicole replied, her arms outstretched in front of her aiming down at the ground so as to not accidentally shoot Wynonna. After they made it past the door, they kept their backs together, guns out and ready, moving fluidly through the haystacks and tools scattered about. They heard noises coming from the dark far side corner and they both cautiously moved toward it.
"You shoot him in the dick, and I'll get him between the eyes," Wynonna murmured, and Nicole rolled her eyes. Only Wynonna could still be humorous while in a tense situation like this. Just then they saw movement, causing them to stop in their tracks, both guns pointed directly at whatever was in the corner.
"Hey, you, jack-ass, show yourself before I blow your brains out," Wynonna called out. Dark hands automatically flew up in surrender, and Dolls' voice sounded irritated.
"It's me you dumb bitches," he said turning around. But something didn't feel quite right to Nicole.
"Oh, umm, sorry-" Wynonna began as she started to put her gun away.
"Wynonna wait!" Nicole yelled, throwing herself in front of the Earp, just in time. She felt a searing hot pain in her abdomen explode, and she fired her gun in the Dolls imposter direction, hoping it hit the desired target. It unfortunately didn't, and he escaped as Nicole slumped to the floor. Wynonna yelped, trying to fire at the revenant while trying to hold on to Nicole. Just then the real Dolls came running up.
"What is going on? I was trying to sneak in the back and then I heard-" he stopped short, looking down at Nicole. He automatically whipped out his phone and started to bark orders into it.
"We have an officer down, I repeat, officer down, ten miles north of Purgatory, on Littleton St, still coherent but fading fast, a large gash in her abdomen," Wynonna didn't hear the rest, half pissed off that the revenant somehow cloned himself to look like Dolls and got away, and half worried sick that Nicole wasn't breathing very well. She ripped off her own jacket and wrapped it around Nicole's abdomen, trying to slow the bleeding. Nicole flinched in pain and moaned, her brow growing sweaty.
"Shh, it's ok, help is on the way," Wynonna said, putting a hand to Nicole's cheek. She cradled Nicole's head in her lap until the paramedics arrived, and rode in the ambulance to the hospital while Dolls went to get Waverly, since she wasn't answering her phone.
Once at the hospital, everything went by in a blur for Wynonna, probably because of shock. They tried asking her questions about what happened, but she couldn't seem to speak. Just then Waverly ran up as they were wheeling Nicole into the ER.
"What is going on?!" she sobbed, in a complete fit of panic. She looked at Wynonna, who was covered in blood and still missing her jacket, and her face went white.
"Nicole?" she whimpered, the look of absolute fear in her eyes.
"She's going to be ok baby girl," Wynonna said numbly, pulling Waverly into a hug. "She's going to be ok," she repeated, as confirmation for herself.
"Wynonna, Waverly," they heard behind them, as Dolls, Jeremy and Doc came up. Waverly let go of Wynonna and slammed into Jeremy, burring her face into his shoulder, sobbing. Wynonna shuffled up to Doc and sank into him, suddenly becoming very tired.
"Sheriff Haught will be ok, she's tough as a bag of hammers," Doc whispered to her. Wynonna always snorted at his old timey sayings, but this time she just sighed.
"It's my fault she's in there," she whispered back.

"Wynonna and Waverly Earp?" the doctor asked, looking at his clip board. Both girls jumped out of their chairs, and jogged toward him.
"Yes?" they asked in unison. He tried not to looked grim, but Wynonna saw right through his act.
"Well, we're doing our best to remain positive, though sheriff Haught has sustained some very serious injuries. We have her in recovery, the surgery went well, but we're going to have to keep her in for a while to monitor her healing process." he said with a nod.
"Can we go see her?" Waverly asked, wringing her hands nervously.
"Not right now. She's resting and she really needs to be undisturbed. You might want to consider going home, resting up and coming back tomorrow morning, you should be able to see her then, depending on her condition," he said as he closed his paperwork. "I will keep you informed as to how she is doing." With that, he briskly walked away. Waverly had a new look of determination on her face, after sitting in silence and shock for hours in the waiting room. She turned to Wynonna, her cheeks flushed.
"Wynonna what the fuck happened?" she asked, hands on her hips.
"Baby girl, I- I can't really-," Wynonna stammered, the right words not coming to her. She glanced over at Dolls for help, and he started to get up, but Waverly started walking away.
"On second thought, I don't want to know what you three were doing, I just want my girlfriend to be ok. I'm going to get some coffee, there's no way I'm going home," she said, wiping her wet cheeks and wrapping her coat around her. As she walked off, Dolls came up behind Wynonna and put his hand on her shoulder.
"She's going to be ok, and so is Nicole. But are you?" he asked, turning her towards him. Wynonna let out a long breath, her head hanging.
"I should have known that it wasn't you when you- or the revenant, called us dumb bitches. You would have never said that, and I know that. Nicole knew it. She saved my life, but she might die because of it," Wynonna said, looking up to face Dolls. She rolled her eyes, setting her hands on her hips trying not to cry.
"And as much as I want to stay here and feel guilty in front of my baby sister while her girlfriend and my best friend fights for her life, I want to end his pathetic fucking life," she said, shaking her head. Dolls smiled.
"There's the Wynonna I know. I'm ready if you are. Doc and Jeremy can stay here with Waverly. Nedley said he's on the way," he said, starting to walk back to the chairs where he had his jacket.
"Ok, but first, whiskey. Jesus I feel like one of those Goddamn t-shirts," she groaned.
