A bit of a poem

~For Sue~

Cold sheets.
Blinding and white.
Cold night.
Alone. All alone.

A beep
After beep
Steady
Deafening

Frail fingers grip the edge of the blankets.
Pulling them up.
Searching for a warmth.
A warmth that you can never get back.

A phone rings.
Tears come.
The voice of sympathy.
"There gone".

The permission that's given.
The acceptance.
The last words they hear.
"It's ok, you can go".

A last breath.
A tear.
A flowing waterfall of salty water.
Trailing from eyes to chin.

It prevents a goodbye
It stops time itself
It makes you realise
How cruel the world can be

It attacks
And it takes
Killing
Ending

And then it stops
It's done it's job
It's ruined there perfect world
It's taken a perfect life.

I know this isn't much of a poem really but I just had a need to write.
This is dedicated to a very close family friend of mine.
She's was like a grandma to me
I'm sorry I didn't get to say goodbye.
