You had loved music since you met Yoongi. He made you love it passionately like you had loved nothing else in your life. He didn't know and neither did you for a long time, that you had started loving him too in the process.

That was the reason why you had run away from your house when you were fourteen along with Song-i and Yoongi. Song-i had come solely because she couldn't stay away from you and Yoongi. Yoongi had planned that all of us would leave your families and move to Seoul. Not because of love but because you both had grown a love towards music, him more than you ever could. But it was a career path not acceptable to your parents or his. Song-i joined in on your plan as she would also have better scope in pursuing what she wanted to do, here in Seoul.

Yoongi was sixteen at that time. He had gotten some money after selling his music and you were ready to go. He bought a house for us, the one that you live in now. You thought he had gotten that money from his songs too, but you were wrong. He had meddled with a loan shark. He had to pay off a debt, but he hadn't wanted to get you and Song-i to get in trouble, so he left after having only lived with you for less than a year.

He send you two a letter a few months later after he left. It said that he had paid off the loan sharks and that he was happy where he was. He told Song-i not to worry. He told you that he wouldn't be back. Ever. You could still remember how hard Song-i had cried that night. She had cuddled into you, her tears wetting your shirt through. You remember holding her so tight in your arms so that maybe you could squeeze the pain out of her. It had been stupid, but it was the only hope you had. You lost the pain you felt in all the moments you comforted her, and when you finally had time to yourself, you realised that there was nothing to feel.

There was also that day when you had told him that you liked him. It had been the same day he left. You didn't know that then. He had been lying on the bed in his room, his door open. You had knocked and with a smile, he had invited you in.

"I need to tell you something, Yoongi."

He had looked at me with those eyes, those eyes which had held so much worry and anxiety. Those eyes which could lie so well.

"I like you."

The three words had slipped from your mouth in such a rush that you were half afraid he hadn't heard them. But he did. You could tell.

For a brief moment, you could see the vulnerability in his eyes. Like he wanted to tell you everything, the things he was worried about, the things he was scared of. It looked like for barely a moment that he wanted to say he liked you too. But only for a moment.

"I'm sorry, (Y/N)."

"I'm leaving. I have to go. It's to keep you both safe, (Y/N)."

All you could do was try to choke back your tears and ask, "When?"

He had taken you by the shoulders and made you sit on the bed. He looked at you in the eyes.

"(Y/N). Look at me."

You had wanted to scream at him to stop saying your name so softly, with so much love.

"I'm leaving tonight."

"You can cry."

And you had. You had cried as he had hugged you and let you wail like a little kid into his chest. He had shushed you, in such a soothing voice, willing you to stop letting your tears fall. Or rather willing you to stop feeling the pain all together.

"Be happy for me. Don't cry too much. Fulfill your dream, (Y/N). Keep Song-i safe for me. She will need you. I won't come back."

"Don't wait for me."
