It's been a couple of days since what happened and I tried avoiding Hayes' house for the most part. I was now in my bedroom with Dailyn to talk about it since I didn't want to ignore it any further.

"You went to Hayes'?" Dailyn asked me while she laid on her back. "No, I don't want to go."

She sat up and laid on her elbows, "Okay so what's going on? You've been flopping all week." She says in a concerned tone.

I looked around to avoid eye contact. "Okay if you aren't going to tell me, I'll just leav-"

"No!" I yelled. Her eyes dilated. "Okay, sorry. I called you over here to talk. I'll call Lauren after we talk so we can have the same discussion." I tell her. "So why can't Lauren be here too?" She asked. "You don't want to tell her about that mystery person from your vacation, do you?" I said.

"Girl, are you blackmailing me?" She laughed. "No, I just wanted to share secrets." I replied.

"Okay, but you gotta go first." She says.

I started to twirl my hair around, something I do when I'm nervous. "It's that serious?" She asked, aware of my habits. "Okay, well I'm listening." She says. I took a deep breath.

"I almost kissed Dominic."

Her mouth parted slowly and she let out a shriek. "When was this?" She asked.

"When y'all were in detention. I went back the house with him to wait on y'all, then we ended up in the pool. He told me he couldn't stop thinking about me while we were fooling around, then he went in for a kiss but Mrs. Grier came out of the house before it could happen."

"So you wanted to kiss him back?"

"I don't know, everything was happening so fast." "Couldn't stop thinking about you?!" She teased, tapping my leg. "We got into a stupid fight the first day y'all were in detention, because he gave me an attitude." I explained.

"Are you gonna tell Hayes?" She asked.

"And make him think Dominic just want to mess with his best friend since elementary?"

"Oh, you right, you right. He gon' have a bad feeling, he always have a bad feeling." She says with a laugh. "Enough about me, who's this mystery person?" I asked her as I got comfortable.

She looked around to avoid eye contact. "Excuse me? I'm talking to you!" I joked with her. She began to laugh, "alright, alright."

"She—"

"OKAY, bi-sexual Dailyn for the win!" I yelled out before she could finish. I thought back on her first heartbreak in middle school. She was so embarrassed, she made me promise to never tell anyone about her relationship with a girl named Jazmine. "Let me finish first," she says.

"Anyways, her name is Emani. We met through my aunt's friend, but it's just a crush that's bringing up some very old, buried, hidden feelings." She says with a smile. "So this means she helped you to stop neglecting your love for females? I love her already!" I responded to her. "Neglect?!" She repeated me in a guilty tone. "Yes, neglect. Our other best friends don't even know you get down like that." I shouldered her a little as a joke.

"Cause it was one stupid, kid relationship." She says. "That made you realize who you really are." I said, then hit her chest. She tried to justify her reason, "Okay, but the topic was never brought up.. so." She shrugged. "What a weak argument." I told her, grabbing one of the snacks I had laid out on my bed.

"What y'all hoes called me here for?" Lauren asked as she wrapped her earphones around her phone. She took off her shoes and took a seat in the middle of us both.
