Unexpectedly Mine [Melissa X Lucinda]

Chapter 9~Dancing

The next morning, Melissa woke up to a paw on her face. She ignored it at first but once she realised there was no escape from the morning, she decided to finally open her eyes and pet the little puppy as she looked around the room. And when she did, she realised that Lucinda wasn't beside her.

She was going to call out for her, but then suddenly a smell hit one her senses. And the puppy probably smelled it too because it abruptly jumped out of Melissa's hold and ran out of the bedroom, probably heading to the kitchen where Melissa assumed Lucinda was.

Melissa was debating on whether or not to lay back down or actually get ready for the day. It was hard to choose, but she finally decided on getting ready for the day, only because she smelled bacon though.

So Melissa got up from under the sheets and stood up from the bed, slipping her slippers on and heading to the closet. It took Melissa some time to find an outfit, not as long as Lucinda usually takes though. In the end, she found a simple black top with sleeves that only go up to your elbows that was tied on the side, making it a crop top. She paired that with denim ripped shorts and just left her white sandals on.

After finally changing, she went to the bathroom to do her daily routine. Then, she finally headed to the kitchen where Lucinda was sitting at the island and the puppy sleeping on the chair beside her. On the actual island table was some bacon and eggs on a serving plates, with some toasted bread right beside it and some butter.

Melissa sat down on the other side of Lucinda, but then got back up to grab plates and forks. She also grabbed the pitcher of water and jug of orange juice with two cups while she was at it. Setting all of it down, pouring herself a cup of orange juice, the two happily dined together.

The couches were pushed back and so was the table, leaving the carpet empty in the middle of the living room. The fireplace was burning and the lights were dim. There were also candles burning, placed on the mantle, making the room supposedly smell like a midsummer night, and midnight jasmines. And to top it all off, there was a record player on a corner table playing a mix of Ed Sheeran's songs.

Well I found a girl, beautiful and sweet.

Melissa was waiting on the couch for her girlfriend. Melissa was wearing a wine red dress. It was short and off-shouldered. There was lace that had a floral pattern on it, but the colour blended in with the dress so it looked like a texture. Melissa was barefoot with her toenails painted the same colour as her dress and her hair was curled.

I never knew you were the someone waiting for me.

Then she heard footsteps coming down the hall from their bedroom. Melissa turned around, her golden eyes meeting Lucinda's sparkling crimson eyes. Lucinda was dressed in a black off the shoulder dress with a layer of tule over the skirt part. Her hair was also curled and she was barefoot.

We were just kids when we fell in love.

Melissa stood up. She held her hand out for Lucinda to take and so she did. She walked her to the middle of the room and they started to slow dance, swaying slowly to the music. Melissa's left hand was holding Lucinda's right hand. And her right hand was just above Lucinda's waist. Lucinda's left hand was placed gently on Melissa's shoulder.

Not knowing what it was.

Melissa and Lucinda slowed their dancing down. They both moved their arms so that they were wrapped around each other's necks. They pressed their foreheads together and closed their eyes so they could savour the moment.

I will not give you up this time.

Melissa was happy she never passed the chance to dance with Lucinda the first time. If she never did that, they would've never gotten to this point. To the point where they had the possibility to get married, start a family, and grow so much more. They've grown so much ever since Starlight and Melissa loved every step of the way to get here.

Baby, I'm dancing in the dark.

Lucinda was also grateful for the big event that happened that night in the casino. If it wasn't for Melissa, Lucinda would've been dancing with Garroth, which doesn't seem that bad, but if they had chosen that route, Lucinda and Melissa never would've happened. But they were in this universe, and they were both happy that it was that way.

With you between my arms.

They had stopped dancing. Lucinda snapped and all the furniture was back where it was before. Now they were cuddling on the couch, with a sleeping puppy in between them. It was comforting on how they could just sit there, not talking, just listening to the soft music in the background, and know that they have each other's trust, love and care.

Barefoot on the grass, listening to our favourite song.

After a couple moments of silence, Lucinda decided to get up and head to the bedroom to change. Before leaving the living room, she looked at Melissa, who nodded at her actions. Melissa followed soon after she heard the door to the bathroom close.

When you said you looked a mess, I whispered underneath my breath.

Melissa got dressed into a slightly oversized salmon coloured t-shirt and some black shorts. Lucinda walked into the bedroom with grey sweatpants on and a black spaghetti-strap tank top on, she was also wearing matching kitty slippers. Her hair was tied up into a really messy bun. She said, "Sorry about my mess of a self." Melissa whispered to herself about how she looked perfect, not messy at all.

But you heard it, darling, you look perfect tonight.

Lucinda smiled sweetly at her significant other, "And you're perfect for me." Then they both got in bed with the puppy following them. "We're perfect."
