I opened up my eyes and I was instantly blinded my the shining sunlight seeping through my window. Today is the day I have been waiting for. This is the day that will predict my future.
I got up from my bed and fixed my bed. I tucked in the sides of the bed sheet and fixed the duvet on top. After all that, I made my way to the bathroom and took a nice warm shower.
This whole thing is making me estastic. This has been my dream ever since I was little. Making it to USC. I've heard a lot of really great things about the school, so before I even graduated, I already applied to go there.
My relaxing shower has come to an end at last. I put on my clothes and did my usual after the shower routine. When I got to the last step of the stairs, I saw my dad and Mason watching the T.V intently. There must be a game on today seeing that it is Saturday.
"Morning!" I chirped. They both looked up at me for a split second before focusing on the T.V once more.
"Someone sounds happy today." Mason teased. I rolled my eyes and walked over to the other unoccupied couch.
"Who wouldn't be. It's a Saturday. No school. Everyone loves Saturday. " I retorted. Mason snickered.
A couple minutes later, I heard footsteps coming from the stairs. Lori then appeared all dressed up. I rose an eyebrow at her when she jumped off the last step and made her way next to me.
"Someones not grumpy today." I spoke.
"Let's just say, that today is a very special day." She answered dreamily.
"And why is that?" I asked. Lori snapped out of her daze and looked at me with loving eyes. I instantly knew the reason she is happy today.
"Did Raven finally asked you out? " I whispered to her. She nodded her head vigorously and we both squealed in joy. Dad and Mason gave us weird looks, but we just shrugged it off.
You see, Lori and I are really close. We basically tell each other anything and everything. This past month, she has been talking about this guy that she really liked. She's had a crush on him since they were in 7th grade. But they finally talked to each other and he asked her out after.
I'm really happy for my sister. She's 15 and she already found someone she actually likes.
"So, where is he taking you? " I asked.
"Well, the thing is that I haven't asked dad about it yet. And I'm pretty sure he'll say no and tell me I'm too young to go out. Then he's gonna give me this whole speech about how boys can be and you know this Mia." She answered exasperated.
I thought for awhile. When suddenly a light bulb lit up on top of my head.
"Lori, no worries. I got this okay? I'll ask dad for you." I assured her. She nodded her head a bit hesitantly and nervously.
I sighed and hugged her. "Lori, don't worry. I got this. I won't let you down." I promised. She let out a breath before nodding once again. I gave her a reassuring smile and went over to dad.
"Ahem." I fake coughed. I caught both dad and Mason's attention.
"Dad." I spoke slowly. He looked over to me with knowing eyes.
"Mia." He mimicked. I smiled sheepishly before speaking my mind.
"Well, Lori has something really important to tell you." I paused.
"But remember, she's 15. A teen dad." I warned him. He furrowed his eyebrows before slowly nodding. I signaled for Lori to come and she did.
"Uh-I was wondering if um-I could-you know-" Lori stuttered. She look at me as if asking for help. I got the memo and helped.
"Dad, what Lori wanted to ask you is if she could hangout with her friend, Raven, today." I continued. Dad frowned and his eyebrows were still furrowed. Mason just smirked at us. Just watching this whole thing unfold in front of him.
"What are you talking about." Dad finally spoke.
Mason groaned to dad's cluelessness. "For Christs sake, dad, they are asking you if Lori could go on a date. Gees. " He blabbered. Muttering the last word.
Lori and I looked hopefully at him before he finally answered.
"No." He stated. Lori looked like she was about to burst into tears. I couldn't let that happen. I promised her I wouldn't let her down. And I intend to keep that promise.
"I'll chaperone her if it makes you feel better." I suggested. He looked at me. Hesitating to answer. I gave him the best puppy face I could muster. Finally, he sighed and gave in. I did a fist pump and Mason just rolled his eyes. I stuck my tongue out at him and giggled.
"Thank you." Lori whispered while hugging me.
" You're welcome babe."

I heard the door open before Mason appeared. Holding papers in his hand. He must've gone to the mail. Mason started looking through the mail reading off who it belongs to.
"Junk, dads, bills, more bills, junk, mine, junk, Mia's-" When he said my name, I almost jumped on him and grabbed the white envelope from him.
"Whoa, someones eager." He teased. I huffed in annoyance and looked at the envelope.
This is it. I thought. I hadn't realized I was just staring at the envelope until Mason grabbed it from my hands and opened it himself.
"What the hell. I was gonna open that! " I exclaimed. He ripped it open and read the contents.
"Dear Miss Amanda Simon, Congratulations! We are pleased to inform you that you have made it in, to the University of Southern California. We are over joyed and excited to see you attend our school this coming fall. USC Dean, Mark Hamilton." He finished. I stared at him in shock.
Mason was smiling widely and he came over and gave me a hug.
"Congratulations sis. You made it." He spoke excitedly. I felt almost in tears. I coulnd't believe it. I got in my dream school. Never in my life did I think I would make such a big accomplishment. All my hard work finally paid-off.
And I couldn't have asked for anything better.
