The bells rung at 4 o'clock sharp.
Well, I'm not referring to electronic bells but the common bells used by local vendors in selling dirty ice creams at the Overhills Park -- the most gorgeous park in the entire city! After an 'AMEN' left each student's lips, rush and random footsteps resonated through both ends of the hallway. Francis, Anthony, Jane, and I briskly walked to the pathway that leads us to our separate dormitories.
"Guys, do not ever forget our picnic at 5:30 pm, okay?" Jane reminded us, twirling glady as magnolia trees showered us with golden leaves.
"Sis, what food should I prepare for later?" I asked.
"Nothing, just be there because I'll be waiting for you my love." Francis answered, face radiating a sunshine glow.
"I'm not talking to you mister full-of-himself guy."
"But sis, he's actually true."
"How can I lie to my princess? You're trust is what I cherished the most dear."
"Francis, could you just shut up!"
"W-wait, Katie are you okay?"
Jane pinched my slender cheeks. Eyes staring at me with concern."I'm fine."
"But you're turning pale."
"I promise. I'm fine."
"Katie, I'm always here for you dear." Francis stated, squeezing my hand gently.
I looked at him and pulled my hand away from his grip. I felt his gaze still lingered but I didn't mind.
Listening to the soft humming of birds perched on the roof from afar,
I prayed silently that his advances towards me will stop sooner. As we walk, I gave an emotionless gaze to Francis as if saying that what he stated does not matter to me because Cedrick is all that matters now. What he thinks, says, and will become in the future -- our future.
"Bro, stop annoying Katie. Why do you have to pursue someone who clearly isn't interested to you. Am I correct Miss Katie?"
Why does Anthony sounds like he know something that he shouldn't have? or I'm overthinking things now.
"Yes, Francis is not my type." I responded without facing Anthony, afraid that he might see through me.
I can't let him find out. I must be careful. Maybe he really does know something."Miss Katie, I don't give up easily."
Francis announced boldy in front of us. "A day will come, you will finally say you love me."Impossible. This foolish human is impossible.
I shook my head, "Not once in a million possibilities."
"Come on, stop that nonsense argument." Anthony spoke in a calm way which impresses Jane more, she even tries to hide her blushing face from me.
One hundred percent love-smitten. Jane O Jane, you will never hide it and you cannot stop it from showing in plain sight.
"Guys!" Jane called. "I baked cookies and cupcakes for all of you!"
"Wow!" - the three of us exclaimed, excited to take a bite of her edible crafts.
"But first, we must change clothes and get ready for picnic!" - she shouted then, dashed to the scarlet gate of the girl's dormitory.
"I think we should do the same." Anthony suggested, raising an eyebrow at me then, to Francis.
Well, the three of us nodded in unison.
