"Cedrick, I have been looking for you son."
Sir Ryian spoke, approaching Cedy in a few long steps.

He didn't notice me. I've been blessed -- truly blessed. Heartbeats went wild as I opened the door in haste, afraid of being caught by Sir Ryian's warm stare.

What might happen if he knows? Ugh, I need to go back to the dorm. Perhaps clean the room, the porch, the restroom or any other corner that needs to be cleaned.

I walked briskly, keeping my head low. Unaware of my surroundings, I end up bumping against a beefy human body.

"I'm deeply sorry."

"It's okay. Have you seen Sir Ryian?"

A feminine voice. I glanced up only to see a tall, attractive lady in her late 20's.

"Ma'am, I saw him with Mister Goldenhart."

"Thank you miss ---

"Miss Cherry Grenrich." - a husky and cool voice spoke from behind. In that exact moment, I swear being reduced to thin air is better than breathing.

I flinched, unable to speak even a single word.
"Sir Ryian, please don't recognize me."
I thought, eyes closed as anxiety slowly crawled inside me.

"Sir Cedrick is waiting in the room to see you."

"Excuse me." I stated, then took rush steps away from Sir Ryian's sight. Seeing the stairs within my reach, I walked in a slower pace.

"I can't wait to see my future husband."- she spoke, it was a faint tone but it was enough for me to hear. "Hahaha" - both of them chuckled.

A tear glistened in my eye, I don't know if this is because of entering into a forbidden relationship or realizing that I'm too low for a man like him.

"Yes, I'm the lowly earth and you're that diamond light I'm longing to touch ." I whispered to myself.

Hands gripping tightly on the math textbook I carried, I looked down at its cover only to see an index card sticked to it.

Dear Katie,

Allow me to spend more time with you. Wait outside the gate at 7pm tomorrow.

"Square root of 2?" I wondered.

GIRLS' DORMITORY GATE / @6:45pm

Behind the enormous scarlet gate, I stood waiting for that unknown human who goes by the mysterious name 'square root of 2'. Is he a math geek? perhaps a math enthusiast.

"I must be fooled." I mumbled, hugging myself since it is getting colder and colder as seconds passed by.

Moist held the tips of my hair, making it as wet as the tiny leaves underneath the soles of my feet. I shut my eyes tight, inhaling the fresh scent of nature scattered all around me.

"Good evening dear." - Yes, it is him. A voice so dear to me, from the very day he said he love me.

"Hi love." giving a smile, only he can see.

In a split second, he hugged me dearly.
"Dear, stay with me."

"Where do you think I'll go love?"

"Please let it be by my side dear. Always."

"Yes love. Always."

Always. Can we keep it?
I guess commitment will decide for it.

Right at this spot where our bodies are close and our hearts closer than yesterday's I love you's, I promise to only love him, just him.

"Are you expecting someone to come  dear?"

"You."

"Me?"

"Yes, you."

"How did you know I'm coming?"

"You're joking, right?"

"No, I'm honestly suprised."

"You wrote a note for me."

"No, I was busy checking papers and preparing for my lessons tomorrow. I did not remember writing a note for you."

"Any idea about the possible sender?"

"No but maybe one of your admirers wrote that."

"You think so?"

"You've got plenty of them, right dear?" he teased, patting my head like one of his pets.

"Uhm." -  Francis

"Hi Francis."

"Hi Mister Strongwill."

"Am I disturbing a father and daughter kind of bonding?" he asked, smiling sheepishly.

"No" - we both replied.

"Uhm, Sir Cedrick."

"Yes, Mister Strongwill."

"May I have a date with Miss Katie?" he scratched his head.

"Sure." - My love responded plainly.

"Francis, I'm sorry maybe some other time."

"But I thought, you were waiting for me since you are here." he pout. " standing outside the gate."

I sighed, "Where will you take me?"

"Away from other people to see." - My love stated softly, then whistled as if he is not interested in eavesdropping.

"Stargazing in the basketball court and eating some snacks."

"Okay."

"Shall we?" - he spoke in such confidence, I can puke any minute now especially the battering of his eyelashes -- it is making my stomach turn upside down!

BASKETBALL COURT

"The stars are wonderful."

"Yes."

"Just like you Katie."

"Thank you."

"I love you, Katie."

"Please don't."

"Why?"

"I love someone else."

"Ouch."

_ deafening silence _
_ cricket sounds _

"I must go, bye Francis."

"Is it Sir Cedrick?"

I kept silent as if my lips were completely sown. Chilly breeze. Shivering flesh.

I stood still, stunned by the question thrown straight on my face.

"Katie" he snapped his fingers. "I see. But do I have a chance?"

"No."

"Katie, I know the scholarship is important to you and I don't want you to be expelled. Why can't you love me instead of him?"

"Francis, I can't."

Tears started to blur my vision as I dashed back to the dormitory.

Expelled. Expelled. Expelled.

It won't stop replaying inside my head. If only .....

"WAKE UP! BIG SIS!"

A loud bang on the door echoed in my room

ARGH. It was all just a dream. I thought I'm finally being rescued from my singleness.

"I'M AWAKE!"

"COME ON SIS! YOU'RE ALREADY A COLLEGE STUDENT! GROW UP!"
