Saturday and my hangover went by fast. I had almost forgotten about my killed headache while fighting with Hermione and speaking with Prince but the second I was alone, it returned on a whole new level.
I was laying on the common room sofa after -to my surprise- finding it empty and quiet.
When I heard chatting behind the fat lady portrait I groaned. For once I thought I would be able to hang out here in peace but no. I guess that dream was far fetched right from the start.
When I recognized the voices I panicked. Hermione. I really didn't want to see her right now. So like the coward I am, I ran to the staircase which led to the dormitories, to hide there from her and whoever would be in her company.
I didn't want to go all the way up to our dormitory. There I would be cornered, at the staircase, I could either go to the dormitory and wait for her to leave if necessary or just walk right past them when more people enter the common room. My idea was brilliant. Either way would help me avoid her just a little longer.
"I'm telling you something is off." Hermione said.
Sighing Harry responded: "I saw the test myself that the minister of magic produced; we are related by blood."
"But you can't know how. She could be your mother's cousins daughters cousin for all you know or like someone from really far in the family line. Someone that doesn't even have a bloodline name. She seems fishy." Hermione argued and I could hear her, Harry and someone else; most likely Ron, sit down on the couch I had just laid on.
"Either way I'm glad to have an actual family member." Harry stated.
"You have Sirius." Hermione reminded whispering his name.
"Well, he's my godfather not blood related it's not the same."
"So all of a sudden blood matters to you. This is all her I swear are you going to start calling me mudblood soon?" Hermione squeaked.
"Of course not! Is it so bad that I'm happy I have some relative left? I mean a week ago I had a godfather that can't always respond to my letters, that's being called a murderer when in all actuality he was framed. A godfather I hardly get to see. And now I have a cousin right here in Hogwarts." Harry spoke strongly. He wasn't leaving much space for quarrels.
"Listen to yourself! Doesn't it seem a little too convenient for you?" Hermione seethed. "You need to understand the possible danger, Harry!"
"I do understand, but when have I shied away from danger? If I don't take this chance with her and believe her word on us being related I won't ever forgive myself." Harry mumbled: "Or you."
"Harry I... Fine. Just listen to me this one time. I will tell you everything I know as a warning."
'Right a warning, more like a compelling case to do what you want you manipulative...' Selenia thought.
"She emerges out of nowhere with a strange backstory, ready with a lie to tell the whole world. She only tells the truth to you and your 'inner circle'. She claims to be from Beauxbatons but acts nothing like the students from there. She shows up, the year after you know who-"
"Voldemort."
"-Reappears. Just the other night I saw her hide something under the floorboards in the girl's dormitory-"
'Shit.'
"-And just a while ago she was talking to this strange mirror calling for her father. Do you know the one that's supposedly dead? The one that's apparently your father's brother that was told to be dead before you were even born. This lie is full of holes."
'Shit shit shit!'
"Well, umm maybe it was a nightmare?"
"Really Harry? A nightmare? That she had while being completely awake?" I could almost hear Hermione roll her eyes. "And all of a sudden she takes you out to Hogsmeade, causing you to break rules, buys a lot of clothing with a crazy amount of money when she proclaimed she lost all of her things?"
"She found her bag from the healing wing." Harry argued on my behalf.
'Thank you.'
"Even worse she got you drunk Harry. I mean how stupid are you? You made yourself an easy target." I could hear Hermione slap Harry around the head.
"Ouch and c' mon she was in worse shape than I was when we left that place." Harry mumbled.
"Well anyway, she said I told her about Neville when I didn't. Why would I have and even if I did his love for herbology would not have been the first thing to come up in my mind. She seems to know everything about every one of us and I don't like it. It's like she's been spying on us or something. And now you say she made herself a friend from Slytherin. She is such a fraud." Hermione said angrily, her voice getting all uptight and annoying.
"Are you done?" Harry asked after Hermione had a brief pause.
"Yes, that's something for you to think about."
"You are starting to sound like one of those conspiracy theorists Hermione. I will and I will ask her casually about some of these things but I'm sure she will have a perfectly reasonable excuse for all of that."
'Soon I will once I come up with something.' I thought.
"Aha! You said excuse, no explanation. You don't believe her story either." Hermione said bouncing on that slip of the tongue like a cat ready to catch its prey.
"Well no. Quite frankly I think most of it is a lie, but I do believe her to be a good person so lay off on her. Maybe he's going through something and she's just not ready to talk about it yet." Harry said, making up an excuse himself.
"Harry you are so naive." Hermione angrily sighed. "Whatever. First thing I'll do is find out what is under that floorboard."
'Oh no.' At that, I stopped listening and quietly made my way to the dormitory where I lay down on my bed and started forming a plan in my mind...
