His arms were around me as I allowed tiny sobs to escape my mouth. My heart was thundering in my chest. I had two crippling fears; thunder and heights.
"What happened?" McGonagall suddenly asked as she walked over to us.
I looked up to her concerned face and retreated from the arms of the slytherin student that saved me: "I wasn't looking where I was going." I explained.
A male student was standing next to McGonagall: "I saw it. Malfoy caught her." The boy said with a nod. He must have been the one to alert McGonagall.
"60 points to slytherin for saving the life of another student. 20 points from gryffindor for recklessness. Now both of you to a check up in the infirmary." McGonagall said.
"Yes professor." I said and got up from the floor.
I followed the slytherin into the infirmary in silence. He held my hand on the way. I guess he was pretty shaken up too.
"Yo Prince, where you going?" A guy yelled at my slytherin company on the way.
"None of your business Nott." My savior yelled back.
'Nott? So they are on last name basic. This guy's last name must be Prince.' I thought and realized that the last name Prince did sound familiar and this must be why.
"Are you hurt?" Prince asked after a moment running his free hand though his hair.
"My shoulder and wrist feel sore, but that must be from the yank when you caught me." I said, moving my shoulder a bit and hissing at the pain.
Prince looked at me with slight distress: "We should go faster to get you in care with Miss Pomfrey."
"What about you? Any pain?" I asked back.
"I'm fine." He assured.
As we entered the infirmary Miss Pomfrey instantly walked over to me: "Oh, good I was hoping you would come back."
"You've been here already?" Prince asked.
"Yeah.. I find trouble everywhere I go." I explained, rubbing the back of my neck and hissing again at the strain on my shoulder.
"Oh dear what did you do now?" Pomfrey asked, fussing around me and making me sit on the edge of a bed.
"Plummeted nearly to my death." I said and watched as Pomfrey used some intriguite spells to locate any pain or broken bones and sprains in my body.
All the while she was muttering something about a deathwish and being more careful in the future.
"Drink this it will make you feel better." Pomfrey said, giving me a potion. "You don't have to stay here since you have no head trauma or broken bones." She said to me as she walked over to Prince, performing the same spells. "You seem to be alright."
"Oh good." I sighed: "Wouldn't want you to be hurt because of me."
Prince gave me a small smile and Pomfrey told us to wait a moment as we stepped towards the doors.
"Here you go dear." Pomfrey said handing me... My shoulder bag!
"You had this!? I thought I had lost it." I said all excited, hugging Pomfrey quickly and pulling Prince along: "Come! I need to see what I have left in here."
We ran through the halls until we reached the door of a room that was empty.
I flopped onto a couch and watched as Prince gracefully sat next to me while I was going through the bag.
"What is the big deal about this bag?" He asked.
"I lost all my stuff." I said. "Everything that I have was given to me by the school. So... I don't have many personal items."
"Oh. Why didn't you just buy new stuff?" Prince asked.
"You can't buy pictures or handmade gifts." I said with a roll of my eyes. Guess Prince here is too rich to understand.
"Can I see that?" He asked when I pulled out a pocket sized photo album that could hold fifty pictures.
"Yea-" I stopped mid sentence realizing that this had pictures of my real family. I couldn't let Prince, or anyone see this. I wanted to peek at the faces of my family but I knew I shouldn't. I could wait for the night to fall. "Sorry. No. They are really personal."
"C'mon let me see what kind of family you come from." Prince said trying to reach out for the book.
"No." I said and pushed the album back into the bag. "But I can buy you butterbeer in the upcoming Hogsmeade weekend. As a thank you for saving my life."
"Sure. Are you thinking of trying out for the quidditch team? I am a really good flier. I am the seeker of the slytherin team." Prince asked, straightening his back.
"No, I'm not joining the team." I said with a shake of my head.
"What? Everybody wants to be on the team. Don't you like flying or something?" He asked sounding surprised.
"I guess I like it, I just don't love it enough to take someone's place. Other people like and want to play the game more. And anyways, I don't really care much for hights." I said, standing up and swinging the bag onto my shoulder.
We walked out of the room and just started strolling along with no designed destination.
"So you know how to play, but you suck because you are afraid of flying too high?" Prince seemed utterly confused.
"Well I guess you could say that, but another factor on the matter is that I haven't really practiced. I only join in to play when my friends don't have enough players for an even game." I explained with a chuckle.
"Oh... Well I can't remember a time when I didn't play. It's one of the things I'm really good at and proud of." Draco said with a smile.
"So how good exactly are you?" I asked with a smirk.
"I would say at the top of the school players. If it weren't for that-" Prince mumbled something I couldn't understand and then went into a rant: "The gryffindor team has a player that constantly wins on luck. He takes all the attention and praise and everybody loves him because of something that happened when he was a kid. He doesn't deserve that praise when he has never truly even worked for it."
"And you have?"
"Oh, you have no idea what it is like for to live in that house." Suddenly his eyes blown wide he looks at me. Clearly that was a slip of the tongue he hadn't been expecting.
I smiled softly and said: "He sounds like a real douche."
White teeth smiling Prince smiled.
